Best Italian restaurant in Vegas?

Heading to Vegas in a couple of days. Would like advice about the city's best Italian restaurants...

Helga Aug 11th, 2002 03:14 PM

The Bootlegger on Las Vegas Blvd. South. It's a little out of the way, but worth it. I have been a customer for 30 years.

Piero's. Just off the strip by the LV Hilton. More seafood-italian but one of the city's best kept secrets. Everyone has eaten there from former presidents to celebrities.

Batista's Hole in The Wall. It right across a side street near Ballys and is our 1st nights meal every time we are there. All kinds of celebrity memerobila(sp), great house wine served with meals, garlic bread is out of this world also. Every entre I have had there is fantastic.

We really liked Canaletto in the Venetian. Not too expensive either.

Seconds on Canaletto. They were very accomodating in making a meal currently off menu. Also, I can't remember the name of the hotel, but down the street from the Stardust, just past the old Debbie Reynolds/WWF hotel/casino (on the same side) is an excellent restaurant. Fantastic service.

There's an Italian restaurant in the Forum Shops area of Ceasars. It is next to the Piazza Navona looking fountain. It's very good (I can't hink of the name) and has great roman ambience.

try carluccios...off the strip on tropicana. or any of the 3 mama jo's locations

Vinny Aug 12th, 2002 10:57 AM

Skip Battista's unless you think Chianti Bottle candelabras and red checkered tablecloths represent fine dining. Eat at the Italian restaurants at Bellagio and the Venetian for the best in town.

havkhones Aug 13th, 2002 01:15 AM

To vinny... The original poster asked for "best" Italian in Vegas, not for fine dining. Using that as a guidline, I still stick with Batista's. Yes those are fine restaurants at the Bellagio and Venitian, but the best, in my opinion is Batista's.

My friend recently stayed at the Mirage and has been bragging about dining at Onda. Has anyone else been there?

Lynn Aug 13th, 2002 09:30 AM

I'd like to give "havkhones" a little support by saying that I also enjoyed Battista's, and I've eaten there two or three times. The place is so, well, Italian that it's funny, the food is terrific, and you don't have to go to the bank and take out a dinner loan to eat there. Enjoy your trip!
Another vote here for Battista's. The prices were quite fair, and the cappucino after dinner was excellent. My brother-in-law's family makes it a regular stop on all of their Vegas trips.

Vinny Aug 13th, 2002 10:30 AM

Are any of you people Italian? If you think Battista's is the "best" Italian food in Las Vegas, you haven't eaten at many "great" Italian restaurants. As they say, "to each his own".

no way Aug 13th, 2002 10:44 AM

Battista's is crap! If you like Chef Boy-ar-dee, then by all means, go for it.

Spiedini, Ferraro's, and Fellini's would suit much better.

Marj Aug 13th, 2002 10:49 AM

The restaurant at ceasars, in the Forum shops area is Bertolini's. It's very good and also reasonable compared to some of the Italian restaurants located in the neighboring hotel (Mirage, Trasure Island, etc.) lobbies.

Lynn Aug 14th, 2002 09:46 AM

Yes, Vinny, since you asked, I do happen to be of Italian descent, and I really enjoyed Battista's. And to "no way": comparing the food at Battista's to the crud sold by Chef Boy-ar-dee is just plain stupid.

Let's face it; everyone has their own opinions. I've even had recommendations from good friends who know my tastes fairly well that I've found extremely disappointing--you never know what someone else will think of a restaurant, book, or movie that you recommend, which is why I find it so amazing that so many people on this site are willing to let total strangers advise them on hotels, restaurants, activities, etc. Such advice may be useful to a point (such as warning people about nightmare experiences with Priceline or something of that nature), but a personal opinion on a specific facility is practically useless. The person offering their opinion may have tastes and priorities that differ completely from your own, and what strikes them as wonderful may make you want to strangle them for recommending a place to you. I know I've felt that way, and I'll admit that the person I was really upset with was myself, for being too trusting of someone else's opinion and trying a place that turned out to be a major disappointment to me and my husband.

You were right about one thing, Vinny: to each his own . . .
dennis Aug 14th, 2002 10:31 AM

the italian place upstairs at the venetian (forgot the name) was excellent (and had no chianti bottles as candelabras) I would highly recommend it.

For Shrimp Scampi, it's PASTA PIRATE downtown!

Lorraine Aug 14th, 2002 11:51 AM

I like Circo at Belligio.
Its expensive but the food is delicious.
