Best in the U.S.
Sorry if this has been done ad nauseam, but I'm curious what you think are the best destinations to grab a great meal. Here are my top five: (not in order of preference)

San Francisco
New Orleans
Chicago
Memphis (for bbq)
Baltimore (for crab)
Seattle (tied for fifth)

I've never spent enough time in NY to make a judgement.

I'm with Utahtea on this one:

1. Any National Park in the Rocky Mountain States - who cares what the food tastes like!

2. Dinner at Bear Lodge in Burgess Junction, WY

3. Breakfast at the Hungry Bear in Woodland Park, CO

4. Donuts at the visitor's center atop Pike's Peak, CO

5. Trout Almondine at Canyon Lodge in Yellowstone

6. Pop-tarts and milk in my truck, watching for moose (any swampy willow thicket in CO, WY or MT will do)

Dave

Nice to see the travel writers have gotten screen names and not left

Banana bread french toast at the Sunny Day Diner at the entrance to Franconia Notch State Park in the White Mountain National Forest.

Domenico's veal chop at 40th and Lex in NYC.

Slugging down a mocha cappucino brain freeze drink (with the little chocolate-covered coffee beans mixed in) at a table outside Malaprop's Bookstore on Haywood Street, Asheville, NC -- especially at the end of a warm day, when Haywood Street is in shadow, but the Basilica of St. Lawrence down at the end is aglow in the orange light of the sunset. The statues and belltowers of the basilica cast long shadows, and people walking their dogs gather by that metal sculpture of three window shopping ladies in front of the bookstore to chat...

A definite best in the US.
