Best ice cream in Charleston
At the end of June, my family and I will be staying for 6 nights at a rental house around 3 miles north of Folly Beach. We have a laundry list of restaurants that we are planning to eat at (Jestine's Kitchen and the Hominy Grill to name a few). But, we are ice cream junkies and want to know the best places to indulge at, preferably locally made. Suggestions please?

Belgian Gelato on King St would be my recommendation.

Wholly Cow has opened a location on Church St. Haven't tried it myself, it is new since my last visit. If you do try it, please post a review for other ice cream junkies!

Making a note of these for our trip in September!

Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream is a locally popular place. The closet one for you is on Savannah Highway. Homemade ice cream, great hot dogs and sandwiches.
You'll want to wait until rush hour is over if you are using Folly Road to get in and out of town. |
Thanks everyone! We can't wait to eat our way through Charleston.

Sue, Ye Olde Fashioned Ice Cream is our favorite too. Having been to Charleston nearly a dozen times, have very fond memories of bribing the kids to be good in the Historical District with a trip for ice cream at the end of the sightseeing day as a reward. My favorite is the turtle sundae.
