Best Hula Show / Entertainment?
 

Hi everyone,

Which (kid friendly) restaurants and places for evening music have the best Hula Shows / Entertainment?

We'll be staying in the following areas this August: Big Island (Kona and Volcano), Oahu (Waikiki), Kauai (Kaapa & Poipu Beach), and Maui (Kaanapali)... but will be traveling other places as well.

I want places the kids can go to and enjoy (ages 13 & 9).

We are going to one luau (Old Lahaina) but want to see/hear good shows the other nights too!!

Carole, the evening show at the Polynesian Cultural Ctr. on Oahu is magnificent. The show is worth the ticket there, even if you saw nothing else.

I have an Entertainment Book with a Buy 1 (adult), get 1 Free PCC ticket coupon (the regular daytime area). We have been to the PCC before, but not to the evening show.

Any ideas also re: "local" places to enjoy dinner or drinks with a show (not too late for the kids). We're staying at Outrigger Waikiki, so maybe there will be something there at Dukes. Is House Without a Key an OK place for kids?

I don't know if they still have it, but last summer the Shopping Center in Poipu had what I thought was a very good hula show on Tuesdays or Thursdays. ((Y)) The dancers were excellent. It was sponsored by the shopping center, so it was free. Anyone know if the shopping center is still doing it? I will be there next week \:D/ , so will report back when I return.

House Without a Key is my favorite place in Waikiki for very low-key, classy entertainment. Not a big flashy show, just some good music and beautiful hula at sunset. Yes, it is OK to take kids there.

We recently went to the Paradise Cove luau using discount tickets bought through a small office on Waikiki found in one of the free magazines. I think I've been to my last luau, but my nine-year-old grandson absolutely loved it. There were a number of activities before the dinner and show.

We had a MISERABLE time at Paradise Cove.

Poor food, too many people.

This proved to be a HUGE dissapointment for us.

On the Big Island I'd recommend taking the drive to either Kona Village or Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, and steer clear of the luau at Royal Kona Resort. The first two have better entertainment, much better food, and your kids would have a better time.
