Our kids (8 and 10) love the Grand Wailea. For kids and kids at heart: great waterslides, activity pool with a volley ball net (can't remember if there is a basketball hoop), Tarzan rope, and water elevator. There is also a wonderful river that is a kick to float/bob around in. For adults: quiet adult pool and a fabulous spa. Good kids program. Great beach. Gorgeous grounds.
I've been there many times when the hotel was at capacity. We have always been able to get poolside chairs, but I must confess, we are usually at the pool by 9 or 10. There is lots of activity: people coming and going all day, jumping from one pool/waterslide to the next. So it has the appearance of chaos, but it really is just people having a great time. Some days the poolside service is better than others. But there is a swim up bar, as well as a walk up bar. There is also a poolside grill that is in the middle of everything.
Have fun.

Grand Wailea...drool...drool. My twelve year old declares she'll never stay anywhere else on Maui. We loved it enough to plan a return trip for this summer. We never had the impression of chaos - even at full capacity the large pools and grounds did not feel crowded to us. Luxurious, opulent, even tranquil.
