BEST HOTEL IN THE BIG EASY...

My family is going to New Orleans for my oldest brothers suprise birthday party. We want a nice hotel in the French Quarter... However, we do not want to stay in a "Bed & Breakfast" atomsphere!

Please give more information on what kind of hotel your looking for, price range, and help will be a pleasure! What time of the year you visit can make a big difference in price, availability, and dining. Conventions and special events can hinder hotel availability and you chances at getting a good deal on a room.

Dear Margo: Don't know what your budget is but I would vote for the Windsor Court HANDS DOWN. Joan

Windsor Court is considered in the Business District. One block outside the French Quarter. Nice but pricey.

I'm not crazy about the Windsor Court for this reason: it's New Orleans!!! Yes, the hotel is wonderful and in any other city I'd love it, but it has absolutely NO New Orleans flair whatsoever. My current favorite is the Royal Sonesta (be sure and book a room overlooking the pool/courtyard rather than Bourbon Street). It's in the heart of the French Quarter and absolutely oozes New Orleans charm.

I vote for the Soniat House on Chartres. <BR>Rob
