BEST HOTEL GYM/Fitness Center
Okay, seasoned travelers and informed Fodorites -- have you stayed at a hotel where the gym/weight room (I'm specifically EXLCUDING SPA)was not only better than most hotels, but was actually better than your gym at home? If so, PLEASE POST. Also, which national chain has the best fitness center?

Look no further than the Four Seasons San Francisco. LA Fitness is inside the hotel. It's a 100,000 square foot fitness mecca with pool, basketball court, racquetball, free weights, machines, all the aerobic equipment, classes, trainers and so on.
Lots of nice hotels offer privileges at good local fitness centers, or have small fitness centers with an array of equipment.
The FS SF is the only one I've been to where a truly top quality fitness center is in the hotel itself.

The Four Seasons in Hawaii (both on Maui and the Big Island) have great exercise facilities. Not as extensive as the ones described by the previous poster, but very, very good. I would say Four Seasons is definetly in the running for chain with the best fitness centers.

A dive tank, a climbing wall, a virtual driving range, an Olympic size indoor pool, indoor jogging track, saunas, whirlpools, photovoltaic sunlamps that bring sunshine into the ground floor fitness centre from the roof.
