Best Hotel Buffets in Las Vegas
 

My wife and I will be traveling to Las Vegas in 10 days, and we will be staying at the Bellagio. Could anyone tell me which hotel buffets would be considered special for breakfast and dinner? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in advance!

This same thread pops up every few months. Do a search. Bellagio for dinner. Paris for breakfast.

My wife and I loved two buffets when visiting Las Vegas recently. The Bellagio buffet was quite good; however, the Paris was superb. Spend the extra money to partake in these two gastronomic delights.

There is no such thing as a good buffet unless you like plastic food.<BR>Spend the money and go to a good restaurant!

John, have you ever watched one of the travel channel shows on Las Vegas buffets? There's nothing plastic about it.<BR><BR>The Aladdin just revamped their buffet, more pricey, but very good. Like above, Bellagio, Paris, and the Aladdin are the best.

The very definition of buffet means that all the food is prepared in advance. I'd prefer to have my food cooked to order and brought to my table. Never mind that there won't be enough to feed half of India, I like quality rather than quantity. That's why I avoid buffets with or without sneeze guards on the steam table food.

There are tons of buffets in Vegas, the best one by far was the Bellagio buffet!

Say what you want about television shows and polls &quot;xxx&quot;.<BR>I've eaten at LV's best buffets, most in the past 2 years, and there is not a one of them that satisfies as well as a decent meal at, say, one of Bellagio's restaurants.<BR><BR>Bellagio's buffet is considered the best by most non-locals (locals gravitate to cheaper buffets so I don't consider their opinions the same as non-locals). The dessets are disappointing. Meats good. Shellfish OK but not great. Sides OK. You still have to serve yourself and sit in a bus depot style cafeteria.<BR><BR>Come on, this is mass prepared food and issue #1 is that the owners know darned well that PEOPLE WHO EAT AT BUFFETS AREN'T ALL THAT PICKY ABOUT FOOD QUALITY compared to people who pay $40-70 per person in one of the good but not top notch restaurants...so why should they prepare their best desserts and best sides, etc etc?<BR>The buffets still pack in the people and they're more profitable than the sit down restaurants.<BR><BR>Simple economics.<BR>Don't spend more than you have to. That's how the hotels operate the buffets. And they still make a killing.<BR><BR>BTW, of all the buffets I've eaten at, the best were Bellagio and Aladdin for lunch/dinner and Paris for breakfast.<BR>But I've eaten at each only once. And I'll never return to any of them.<BR>No more buffets for me.<BR>Disappointing in every single case.

If you like seafood, go to the seafood buffet at teh Rio. The Harrahs also has a great buffet.

Marge and I love the Stuckys Lounge. We enjoy the Pecan Log each Christmas season. They have a few one arm bandit machines there. Great post cards. Free CONTINENTAL breakfast!!!

Reed, that's not true. The Bellagio buffet looses thousands each day on the buffets because the food is made fresh daily by top chefs. Just because it's mass produced does not mean the taste or ingredients will be any different than restaurant food. That may apply to other buffets on the strip but certainly not the Bellagio. Also, I hate to burst someone's bubble but a lot of the food in restaurants is also pre made. I'm not talking about 5+ star dining here but your average meal. Some of the best chefs of the world live in Las Vegas and they also oversee buffets.

P.S. Every single casino looses money on buffets. I live in Las Vegas and take offense to your statement that we don't know where the good buffets are. We do live here, don't we? We just don't drive in traffic 30 mins to have a &quot;strip&quot; buffet. Would you drive 30 mins from your house to have buffet food? Price has nothing to do with it. I rarely go to buffets myself as I don't overeat but I think some of your ideas about LV buffets are incorrect.

The reason I strongly believe that local Las Vegans opinions about buffets and hotels are not similar to those of out of towners is that when I read the Las Vegas Review Journal's yearly poll of locals' opinions detailing the &quot;Best of Vegas&quot;, the winners are often ridiculously off base.<BR><BR>In 2002, best breakfast in Las Vegas: IHOP!! (What a hoot. In LV? Best breakfast is a town of 1 million people is IHOP?!?!)<BR>Best buffet: Rio. (Ha! Not! What a joke).<BR>Best romantic restaurant: Stratosphere. (How embarrassing).

Any poll is just as good as the people that answer them. They are subjective to the audience. The RJ poll is six pages long, goes only to subscribers - who has the time to answer that? There are 1.6 million people that live here as opposed to probably a few hundred that take the time to answer. It does not represent our city nor is it scientific. Regardless, I hope you enjoy vacationing in our town.

I have found most of the upscale casinos have great buffets. The Seafood buffet at the Rio was awesome...the other buffet at the Rio was very similar to Hospital food.

For all those who responded to my inquiry, I am greatly appreciative. For those who were offended, I am truly sorry. I am a first time visitor to Fodors, and I was not fully aware of the ability to do an extensive search. Let us say that certain responders here educated me well! However, I see nothing wrong with bringing up the subject on a regular basis because things change and recent visitors to Las Vegas might have something new to add. Of course, I realize the advantages and disadvantages of buffets vs. restaurants, but my wife and I sometimes enjoy being able to have a broad choice of foods that we can visualize before it is served to us. It certainly sounds as if we would not be disappointed in the buffets at the Paris and the Bellagio!

Larry: Might want to checkout chowhound.com . Go to the southwest board and scan/search for the same information. The question is oft-asked, and gets much opinion there, as well.

I got a metal bolt in my scrambled eggs when I ate at the Showboat. Do not go there for breakfast..lunch or dinner.

My votes goes to Paris. The food is good and I like the way they take your name so you may avoid waiting in a line. It's been a couple of years since were there...I hope this is still the way they do it.

I especially like the way they serve the sausage at Rio...so realistic.
