Is there one island that is better than another for whale watching in Nov. or Dec.? Also, which side of the island is it bettr to be on (East,West, North, South)?? Thanks.

I've seen many humpback whales off the south and west sides of Maui from January to March.

My understanding is that Maui is the best island. The whales pass through the channel between Maui, Molakai and Lanai - if you stay in/near Kaanapali you'll be in the right area of Maui. However, it is possible to see whales from all the islands. November is early in the season, later in December there are more opportunities for spotting whales.
I go the Hawaiian Islands in Nov/Dec
and have yet to see a whale. The bartender at the Kauai Coconut Beach Resort in Kauai say's if you come in Jan/Feb you can sit right out front of thier resorts and watch the whales go by. She said it rains alot at that time of year but the whale watching is great!!

Maui is probably best due to accessability by boat. However, they breed between the Big Island and Maui and can be seen off the Kohala Coast (BI). I'm sure they have boat excursions as well but Maui would be much easier (IMHO).

The south coast of Maui is probably the best spot.
