Best ground transportation from Denver airport to Boulder?

We are all converging from both coasts in May for my niece's graduation from U of C and our daughter will be coming in at 6 pm long after the rest of us have arrived. Would like to get her to Boulder without spending a fortune for a cab but also without subjecting her to Super Shuttle (which I have come to hate for their ineffeciency, lack of clarity about stops, time taken etc.). I am hoping to find a nice express bus service, a decently priced car service etc. Any suggestions anyone??

Geez; we had a Super Shuttle guy take us on a 2.5 hour (instead of the usual 1 hour) nighttime blizzard drive to north Boulder. Was so grateful for the drive and the driver; thought it was a great option!
But here's a link to the DIA suggestions:

It was 5 years ago but I took the bus/shuttle - and straight to Boulder -no problemo. That was in the summer - and in the winter - shuttle or driving a 4 wheel drive - if a storm hits -it will be slugging thru the conditions.

The Skyride is a bit slow - 1 hr 45 - but I think the price is only $12 - could be wrong. Goes every hour. See schedule

Just checked. The fare is $13 AND CASH ONLY. The service is pretty good - over the road buses so it is a comfortable ride. Goes to the transit center on the CU campus.

Truth be told, I would probably go pick her up unless there is something going on that someone can't miss in the afternoon.
The Skyride does look like a great idea however.

The timing for all of this worked out badly. We land at 11:30 am from the west coast and she lands at 6 pm from the east coast. So we either find a good bus/transport or we spend the afternoon running between DIA and Boulder. Looks like Skyride might be the best option. Thanks for schedule fmpden. I think I was hoping for some faster (more expensive would be fine) version of the city bus that would still cost less than a car service. I may just go get her too; have no idea what the roads will be like and how long of a drive it would be.

It's an hour drive. Tell her you'll meet her at the door for the airline she is flying. You'll have a nice visit on the way back. It's as far for us to pick someone up from south Denver as is for you from boulder. But the Skyride looks good, if it is pretty much on time/dependable.

There's a cell phone lot. You'll go to level 4.

While it maybe an hour in normal traffic you are hitting rush hour. You would need to take the toll road from Boulder, probably both ways. The only thing in between is a shuttle service which you are opposed to using.

Not opposed to a shuttle, just trying to find the best fit with a 6 pm arrival so that we can all try to have a nice dinner together.

In fact, SuperShuttle may be the best option (the SkyRide will have a 35 minute wait for the next bus). Maybe she should just get on the first SuperShuttle leaving for Boulder and get off at the first stop in Boulder and I can come pick her up where ever that is. That would eliminate the 7 stops to get to where you are going (I know they say only 3 but that was not my experience last time I tried!)

No sure what your are referring to with a 35 min wait for the next bus. The buses go on the half hour 29) If her plane lands at 6pm she will have to hassle to make the 6:29 especially if she checks luggage. And if she misses the bus, she will have to wait an hour. I do think you are hung up on Super Shuttle. You are taking your bad experience and spreading it across the world. And, so what, if they make 7 stops instead of 3. My big concern with any of shuttles I have used at DIA is that do not run a fixed schedule and tend to wait until they have a decent load before leaving. We got in late one night (after 10pm) and had to wait close to an hour before the shuttle departed.

The SuperShuttle has several drop-off points in Boulder. We really thought the price and convenience and service were very good.

I can speak from experience that Super Shuttle at DIA sucks. We waited for 30 minutes for people to board, and in spite of our being first on, we were last off, even though it would have been JUST as convenient. The OP's experience elsewhere was ours IN Denver.
And on the pickup, it was nail biting time for them to be there on time.

My understanding about Super Shuttle is that somewhere along the line they went from being a company who hired drivers and had policies to a company who leased their vans or their name to independent drivers (who are all essentially running their own business). That is when the "only 3 stop"policy became meaningless. My [limited] experience with them in recent years is that the drivers will tell you whatever they need to to get you in the van. I just won't use them anymore. I don't like that way of doing business and value my time and my psyche too much to hassle with them. For my niece she will either take the bus or I will be fine paying the $80 for a timely, reliable car service.

This posting is over five years old and the information in the responses is seriously out of date because of the changes in schedules and the opening of the light rail between the airport and downtown Denver.

No rail to Boulder, though.
This additional post was just advertising, anyway.
