best golf /value myrtle beach
we will be spending a few nights somewhere at myrtle beach this august and would like to know, for a serious low handicap golfer.. where would you NOT miss? driving distance NOT an issue.
have golfed tidewater. good value would be interesting. or ways to get discounts at some of the better courses. any ideas? ( i am a non-golfer researching for my hub, so thanks in advance). |
or any good golf rating websites for the area?

In August I suggest skipping golf all together because it is entirely too hot. Heat indices will easily be in the 110s-120s. Even if you tee off at 6AM. Since the ocean water will be in the mid 80s by that time, we don't cool off at night that time of year.
If that doesn't deter you, the best courses in my opinion: TPC Caladonia The Heratige True Blue The Dunes Club The Barefoot Courses Glen Dornoch |
By the way, at the mid range courses like Myrtle Woods, Azalea Sands, Pawleys Plantation, etc, green fees and cart fees will only be around $20-$30 total.

There are probably 120 golf courses in Myrtle Beach. I always play Myrtlewood, which has two courses -- the PineHills and Palmetto. The Palmetto is the longer of the two. It's right off the 17th Bypass at N. 48th St. ((b))
