Greenwood's on Green Street in Roswell, GA....We love Wisteria down in Inman Park but have never had the fried chicken. Everything else we've eaten there has been woooonderful though....

Ditto the Colannade.
The best is probably's Scott Peacock's fried chicken at the Watershed - served only on Tuesday nights. You have to get there early or they sell out. In Decatur.

I'll second Watershed. Plus it's an overall fantastic restaurant in case you have folks in your party who don't want fried chicken.

Mary Mac's is still there.

By the way, Colannade is cash only. There's an ATM in the lobby.

I like Mary Mac's but LOVE the Colannade. Truly, the Gays and Grays! Both appreciate good Southern cooking... and their cocktails.

They do make a good strong drink at the Colonnade.

And their Prime Rib is as good as their fried chicken.

Plus there are two dozen other items on the menu that are as good as you'll get anywhere.

I love sitting in the front (main) dining area as it is always so festive

Yep, I agree. I last sat in the first curved banquette in the place - front row center for the "festivities".

Just found a flyer I picked up last time I was there. The Colannade offers $10 Early Bird Specials on Mon-Thurs from 5 to 6:30. 10 of the most popular entrees including Chicken Livere, Grilled Chicken breast, Chicken Fried Chicken, Grilled Calves Liver, Grilled or Fried Pork Chop, Salmon Croquettes, Chop Sirloin Steak, Grilled Talipia, Chicken Tenders, and Veggie Plate. The Entrees come with 2 sides or soup and side, coffee or tea and Chef's Choice of Dessert.

The Fried Chicken isn't on the special - but they serve a half of a chicken fried anyway. Always enough for take home and another meal for me.

Now, I'm hungry.

I was raised eating Popeyes and love it, but am not a giant fried chicken fan. However I know people who love it really love it. What are the characteristics of "great fried chicken?"

Will be in Atlanta From Chrismas through Dec 30th - being from the North - looking for a Southern Experience - All we have up hear is Kentuckey Fried Chicken. Would love to find a restaurant that has crispy outside and moist inside but not a fast food chain experience. A place where the charm is the enviromment as well.
