Best French Restaurant in San Francisco?
 

Our Gourmet Group consisting of 8 people will be traveling to San Francisco from Sonoma County to enjoy a "dinner in the City." We would like recommendations for French restaurants from you local Fodorites. Thanx!!

In no particular order:

Jardiniere

Fleur de Lys

Masa's

La Folie

Plouf

Sigh. So many restaurants, so little time.

Some of my favorite French restaurants in SF in addition to the ones listed above are bistros such as Chapeau, Le Charm, Chez Papa, Clementine, Chez Spencer, or Hyde Street Bistro.

La folie in that order.

First decide what kind of experience you want, formal dining--Jardinere, Fleur de Lys, LaFolie, or more casual--Plouf, and the above mentioned bistros. That's a good place to start.
