Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim. Western cabin or Pioneer cabin? Cookout?

I'll be traveling with my husband and my Mom to the Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim in a couple of months. I've reserved a Western Cabin (Standard View) and a Pioneer Cabin (Rim Side) and I obviously need to choose which one I want to keep. Does anybody have any tips? They both seem to have pros and cons.

I would also like to know if anybody has any opinions about the Cookout. Is it just for kids? Fun for adults? Is it worth the price?

Thanks!!

Go with the Western. Pioneer are more primitive, but fine. Western appear updated.

I personally think anything closer to the rim would be more memorable but that's subjective. You'll understand more when you get there.

I checked their website. The pioneer cabins have been remodeled in 2009. I agree with Dukey, rim side would be worth it.

Western cabins have a little porch to sit on, but are one large room with 2 beds, not much privacy for your mom. The pioneer cabins, at least the one we had, had two sleeping areas separated by the bathroom, thus allowing more privacy.
