Best Florida Key

My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to the keys over Valentine's Day weekend and are wondering what Key is the best. We are flying into Miami, so would really like to stay in one of the Upper Keys...any suggestions on which key and any hotels/resorts is greatly appreciated!

Islamorada for water sports and Key West for hanging out.

Big Pine for nature and trips to Looe Key. Try Strike Zone Charters at the bridge to No Name Key.

Correction: Strike Zone Charters is at the bridge to Little Torch Key. Great Snorkeling on Looe Key.

Depending on what time your flight gets in and whether there's a close flight to Key West, you can fly down there (not sure about cost) and rent a car at the airport. I recommend staying in Old Town. My wife and I have been there twice and we're going again at the end of April. We love it. Great resturaunts (Definitely go to Blue Heaven [at least for breakfast], Mangia Mangia, El Siboney). Nice beaches. Plenty of snorkeling/scuba diving/fishing. Worth the extra $ and time to get there.

Key Largo for quick access to Miami, but still the feel of the Keys.

Islamorada for fishing

Marathon for a little of everything and to be a good base for everything.

Anything past the Seven Mile Bridge south to about 5-10 miles north of Key West for nature

Key West for everything and the coolest place in the world to go. (Key West would be the best choice by far. It's only a 5 hour drive from MIA

Speed up, Red. It's never taken me more than 3.5 hours to get from MIA to Key West!! :-)

Kim must be one of those idiots who pass everyone and weave in and out of traffic. How many key deer have you squashed Kimmie???

Takes me four days to get from MIA to Key West. Oh, the sights I've seen, things I've done and the times I've had...

See, you start at Alabama Jack's...

I'm with you Bambi, how many key deer have you killed or left crippled Kim? Big Red, you have the right speed, just cause it takes you 5 hrs to get to Key West means you are doing the right thing. Congrats Big Red and I 2nd Bambi's post. Turtleis, meet you there, you got the right way of getting to Key West and enjoying the keys as they are.
