Best/Favorite Restaurant in lexington?
Hello - I'd like to buy a gift certificate for a friend and his girlfriend who are seniors at UK. Any suggetions on an upscale place that college student would enjoy? Thx
|
I'd vote for A La Lucie. It's got a neat, funky atmosphere and terrific food.

Do they like Japanese? Tatchibana out on Newtown Pike is excellent! I eat there with friends every year when I'm in town for a convention.
You'd be surprised at good Japanese in middle America, but between the Toyota and Lexmark plants, and all of the recehorse industry, they have a very loyal following! |
My husband and I graduated from UK and while the restaurant has changed somewhat, we really like Nadine's. It isn't as formal/dressy as A La Lucie, but the food is great-we ate dinner there the night my husband proposed. A La Lucie is very good as well-last time we went they had french table service, which was nice. I also really like Jonathan's at the Gratz Park Inn.

Is Nadine's next to Oscar's? I love Oscars, it's got a fun bar feel, piano player, good food. Lexington is smokefree, btw. I second a vote for Jonathan's, too, it is excellent and isn't far from campus. Always had great meals there.

Nadine's is not next to Oscar's. It is out Harrodsburg road, I believe. (I know everything in Lexington by sight-I always forget the roads!) My sister LOVES Oscars though. It wasn't there when we lived in Lexington. Actually most of the shops in that shopping plaza on Tates Creek were not there.
