Best Family Hotel in Boston?

We are travelling to Boston at the end of the month with our 2 children (ages 5 &2). Where would you recommend staying? Or places to eat which aren't touristy? I am looking for clean, friendly accomodations within easy walking distance to sites or to the T station. Thanks!

What is your budget? The Boston Harbor Hotel is very nice and an easy walk to the aquarium, Quincy Market, Faneuil Hall, and the restaurants of the North End. Also a quick taxi ride to Back Bay/Newbury Street.

IF you want to be uptown near The Prudential Center and Newbury Street, check out The Sheraton Boston ( which has a huge indoor swimming pool) or The Marriott Copley Place. The Sheraton is right in the mall, and the Marriott connects to the mall. Both are very close to T stops, but not within easy walking distance of any of the major tourist sites mentioned above.

Thank you; our budget is fairly flexible so I am willing to look at all suggestions.

We liked the Marriott Couryard in Brookline. It is a block away from several nice little restaurants, plus a CVS and Trader Joe's:

We stayed at the Boston Harbor hotel for a long weekend with our 9 and 8 year old.

Hotel has an indoor pool which is a nice benefit. It is a very easy walk to the Aquarium and Faneuil Hall - about 15 minutes at most. We took the one-hour Duck Tour from the Aquarium which I would suggest is worth it with two kids and at one hour it is just the right time for them to stay interested.

It was also a fairly easy walk to Boston Common, which is a good spot for you as it has a playground and your kids may enjoy the Swan Boat ride.

The hotel was a bit pricey for food, especially breakfast. But, there are enough local places nearby to find something in the morning.

We had a corner room which had plenty of space for the four of us. I have a corporate rate but I believe it was still about $500+ for the night.

Another option in that area is the Marriott Long Wharf, which is directly adjacent to the Aquarium.

For transport to the hotel we used the water taxi which went right to the wharf next to the hotel. We left on a Sunday late afternoon and were fine with the time it took for a cab.

The hotel is reasonably close to several T stations and Boston South Station.

What about the Parker House? Has anyone ever stayed there? Any pros or cons to this property?

The location of Parker House is very good. I'm a local so I don't stay in hotels in town. Have you checked reviews on tripadvisor?

I'm also a local and have not stayed at the Omni Parker House, but at my firm we put visiting attorneys up there and I recently reviewed their internet/IT access and fell in love with the rooms....
