There are alot of Dim Sum spots in Chinatown, some better than others and some busy because they are well known. My favorite (and I have been to most) is Mandarin Court. on Mott ST. Even on weekends is not as busy and most of the customers are locals.

If you walk down Mott ST, which is the main street in Chinatown, you will have lots of choices. Also a favorite for desert is the bakery on the corner of Mott and Canal or for bubble tea walk down Mott 2 blocks to Silk Road.

Another really GOOD restaurant is Peking Duck House, one of the best in the area. If you like duck, this is the best in the city, IMHO.

Hope this helps. Oh and if you see a redhead at Mandarin Court it might be ME, lol.

Here is a link to a good primer on Jin Fong. One thing to remember is to walk around, sometimes all of the carts don't come to your table and there are other cooking stations throughout, just take your card with you.

That is a great link to Jin Fong. My colleague although American born speaks fluent Cantonese and had her wedding there. I have had bsuiness diners there and we often go for dim sum.

As noted Jin Fong makes few concessions to occidental tastes. But all you need to be able to do is point and enjoy,
