Best Desserts in NYC ?

Where to eat good desserts in NYC ?
NYC cheesecake, layered cakes, cinnamon rolls, ice cream cakes, etc.

Try Grand Central Station, lower level. Junior's Cheesecake has an outlet for the best cheesecake in New York. Also the Little Pie Company has an outlet and serves some of the best Pies around, don't miss the Sour Cream Apple Walnut.

I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

Not the easiest place to get to -- a taxi might work best, or a subway and a walk -- but if you can get there try Veniero's Pasticceria on 11st Street @ the corner of 1st Avenue. Instead of me blathering on, punch it into the www.newyork.citysearch.com website and see what they have to say. Definitely worth it.

Lalo (despite You've Got Mail).

Magnolia Bakery at Bleecker Street and 11th Street. Real American baking, very popular--layer cakes, devil's food cupcakes, refrigerator cakes, many other things. It seats about 8 people, go at an off time, or take something out (but: to me: not the same, I love the place).

Nice weather, they have a bench outside you can sit on.

Aren't there more answers to this?

Anywhere in Little Italy, especially good is Ferrara's (195 Grand Street).

OOhh Phillip, Ferraras, and their ices! I cannot wait for summer, walking around Little Italy and eating ices~
Soho has so many bakeries that I like, Once Upon a Tart is good too.
For desserts in the baked goods category (sticky buns, chocolate cherry rolls, etc.) I like Amy's Bread on Ninth Ave & 46/47th St. They also have a bakery/store in Chelsea Market.

And Chelsea Market is also home to other worthy dessert places: ice cream from Ronnybrook Dairy, Sarabeth's, a brownie place and Eleni's Cookies.

As for ice cream cakes, I still like Carvel's with the chocolate crunchies in the middle.

Caffe Dante on McDougal Street has the best cappuccino and desserts.

Steve Feb 8th, 2002 05:49 AM

Amy's Bread has the best cinnamon rolls.

Sara Beths on Amsterdam used to have a chocolate cake that was out of this world~

Hi Antonio...if you like cheesecake you should try S&S Cheesecake on West 238th right off Broadway in the Bronx...if they're closed the grocery store down the block stocks them frozen or ready to eat...during the holidays they make a fabulous chocolate version...you won't be disappointed...I was disappointed the last few times I went to Veniero's and DeRoberti's, which is around the corner from Veniero's...if it's still around you may want to try Cafe Lalo on West 83rd and Amsterdam Avenue.

I vote for Once Upon a Tart on Sullivan St. The best brownies. And Cupcake Cafe on 9th Ave at 39th St. The most beautifully decorated cupcakes you've ever seen and great cookies.

For unbelievable French style patisserie, try Payard Bistro which is at 1032 Lexington Ave. (bet. 73rd & 74th Sts.)

Francois Payard is a pretty well known pastry chef and he actually provides cakes to many of the top restuarants in the city. The birthday cake my wife ordered from Payard was incredible.
