Best Delivery in Boston

We'll be staying in Boston our first night and I know hubby will want to just eat in the room - We're staying at the Onyx which I don't think has room service - anyway, I would rather try a local delivery place instead = what do you recommend and why? We love all types of food so ethnic is good too.

DiningIn provides delivery service for a number of restaurants in Boston, as well as other cities. You may want to check out their site for options. If you like Asian/Sushi, Jae's is a good choice. Kashmir for Indian is also a good bet. The Onyx is in kind of a strange location (looks like an interesting place, though, I walk past it every day on my way to work), so it could be hard to get a delivery guy to find the right place! If you can drag hubby out of the room (I know that can be hard), the North End is right around the corner with a wealth of fantastic Italian places (Sage is a favorite of mine, but you really can't go wrong in the North End).

magay - could you give me walking directions to Sage from Onyx? If not for Friday night, maybe I'll take him there sunday - thanks!

Oh boy, you had to ask for walking directions! It is virtually impossible to give such a thing in this town. My usual response when asked for directions here is to walk two blocks in (point in the direction), then ask somebody else! The easiest way is to walk down Causeway Street (take a right out of the hotel to get there - it's the busy street at the end of the block) and walk to Prince Street, take a right on Prince. This is not a very scenic route, but it's probably what Mapquest would tell you to do. I would recommend going left out of the hotel and walking down to Faneuil Hall, then asking someone to point out to you how to get across the Big Dig area to Salem Street in the North End (the configuration seems to change every day - it's just best to ask) and walk up Salem to Prince Street. The restaurant is at 69 Prince. Much more scenic that way. It may also be easier just to take a cab and I would recommend taking one home, I just don't like walking in the area where the Onyx is in the evening, it's too quiet and deserted - call me chicken. Of course it may be o.k. with the two of you together.

You may want to walk over early and see the Old North Church - the lanterns, Paul Revere, all that, just a few blocks away. Have a lovely time!
