Best deals on Vegas vacation
Sister just told me she wants to plan trip to Vegas for son's birthday. Not my travel scene at all. I seem to remember there always being deals to Vegas the way their are always deals to Atlantic City. She would be leaving Newark airport.
Anybody have a heads up on where to search for this? Thanks |
I hope that the kid is 21. If not why the hell is she planning a Vegas birthday.
Assuming that is the case (21 yrs old) I hope the mother is not planning on going with the son. Vegas is the last place I would want to spend time with my mother. Vegas today is not the cheap vacation that it used to be. In fact it can be pretty expensive. It all depends on dates of travel. If you go on the weekend or holidays it is expensive. If you go during convention season it is expensive. Usually the best deals are when it is 120F outside. |
Gotta any suggestions for a website to investigate options frank?
|
any of the travel websites expedia, travelocity, etc will have vacation packages (hotel, airfare, etc).
There are not always cheaper than just doing it yourself though. check out travelzoo.com as well. |
Just booked a trip from JFK to Bally's leaving Nov 3 and return Nov 6 on US Air and total was 421.00. I would have preferred to leave from Newark but all were to expensive.

thanks kit will check it out. ..thanks frank will check out travel zoo.
|
Kit who did you book that through?
|
you will find the best deal by running a search on mobissimo.com and kayak.com which both search most of the internet websites. Flying Tues-Thurs and Saturday is cheapest.
for hotels, check hotwire.com and stay ON the strip. Sun-Thurs is usually half the cost of weekend rates. as above, I hope all parties are over 21. |
anybody?

I never do packages, sorry. But the way I search may be helpful.
Check Orbitz for prices, schedules, stops. Sign with the fare notfication. Then off to the airline websites to sign up as frequent flier and if available for fare change notification. Or if Southwest is convenient and the low price still available, jump on it. Then off to Expedia, map hotels, pick a couple by price/location and off to hotels websites to sign up for their e-mails. |
If she's flying from Newark, I would think the NYTimes would have a lot of ads for package "deals" in the travel section, if that's what you're looking for. But I would price airfare and hotels separately to find the best deal with a hotel I wanted to stay in.
|
For hotels, look at www.harrahs.com and click on the tab "hot deals" It will give you the lowest prices for Harrahs, Rio, Caesars, Flamingo, Bally's and Paris for the next few months. Don't know when you are going, but in Dec you can book at room at Harrah's for 55 night.

hmm, I have an 18 yr. old who wants to see a UFC fight, but with his luck, he's be kidnapped by Lindsey or Paris.
I did read that Alliance.com was better for perks and upgrades than some hotel websites. I may check it out for a spring trip, no son included! J. |
Thanks Faina, Just an FYI Kayak and sidestep are better for domestic air than orbitz or expedia. Think and its just a guess but the package deal is different for Vegas than other trips. Do you avoid packages for Vegas?
Also there is not a southwest option out of Newark thanks though. JCB thanks Cherly thanks I wanted to give her something she could research online. NYT is a bear online. Thanks though. Jetset thanks but do I have something wrong here looks like a shipping sight. |
Not that I avoid packages, just never done them.
|
Sarah~ I sincerely apologize. It is Five Star Alliance. J.

Sarah,
We booked it thru US Air vacations direct. Originally we were booking on Vegas.com but realized when they showed the airfare it was US Air so we went on their site and found it cheaper. Kit |
