Best day trips from Rome??
 

I will be in Rome for 10 days in June. I want to take several day trips while I am there. I definitely plan to go to Pompeii (again) but what other trips would be at the top of your list? I was also thinking of the town from "Everybody Loves Raymond" - Anguillara. I like the idea of seeing a coastal area for one day but maybe Anguillara is too touristy since the show was on television.

Forgive me if I sounded sarcastic. I had actually thought or Rome, New York as a possibility.

If you are still checking in here instead of on the Europe forum, I would suggest Ostia Antica, since you apparently enjoy Roman ruins. It is a short local train ride from Rome and is quite an extensive site. It was a very important port city.

Orvieto is another nice place, quite close by train.

Tivoli for Villa d'Este and Hadrian's Villa might also be of interest to you.
