Best Day to Visit Lower East Side?
 

My mother and I will be in New York City over a long weekend that includes Friday and most of Monday. We're planning to visit the Tenement Museum, and will probably take one of their walking tours as well. In terms of stores and restaurants being open, what's the best day to be in the area (and sorry, Saturday is out because we'll be at the Frick that afternoon)?

Not sure - will shops and other places be closed on Friday evening for Shabbat?

You probably want to avoid Saturday. Sunday is actually the best day. Do the walk early, and then most stores and restaurants should be open by noon.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately for my schedule, the earliest Tenement House tours on weekends seem to be 11:45. So we'll plan to spend Sunday later morning and afternoon in the area.
