We've only done the Seward cruise. You will see glaciers on the longest cruise but calving is not guaranteed. Watching orcas swim in unison was the highlight for me. Keep in mind Seward is a beautiful small Alaska town and Whittier is a former secret military base with a couple of huge, tall concrete buildings, one of which is abandoned. If you're thinking about shops and exploring after your cruise, Seward wins by a landslide. Lots of people enjoy Ray's for dinner. The tunnel to Whittier is fascinating, a great engineering marvel but you will also have to time your visit to when it is open for one way traffic in the direction you are headed. If going to Whittier means skipping Seward entirely, I would not choose Whittier.

There are several companies for the day Cruises in Seward. How to choose ?
Do you know "Major Marine Tours".
The 8 hour tour seems very atractive, and there is a 20% discount for a booking before May 1st.
Is it a good/serious company ?
