Best concierge-level hotel experiences?
 

I just had my first experience with a &quot;club-level&quot; room at the Cleveland Ritz-Carlton. Loved everything about it and it was definitely worth the extra money to be able to relax in the lounge for breakfast, afternoon snacks, appetizers, etc. Also, the concierge was wonderful and helped with all of our dining arrangements.<BR>Now that I know what I've been missing, tell me about other hotels with outstanding concierge-level rooms. Where have you stayed where you felt the extra money was well spent versus places where the regular old room will do?

Motel 6 in Gary, Indiana!

Definitely the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, especially when they first opened. In addition to the requisite continental breakfast, they had cold drinks and fruit all day, then they had open bar starting at 5 pm and they had everything, wine, beer, mixed drinks - free! Some other club levels offer drinks but charge for them, not at the Hard Rock. They also had great big shrimp for shrimp cocktail, chicken salads, cheeses, cold cuts, spreads. Really enough to make a meal out of.<BR><BR>At 8pm they start baking big warm cookies, chocolate chip, peanut butter and macademia nut, and set out milk. My kids loved coming back to those cookies (I have to admit, so did we) what a treat. Definitely the best Club level spread I've seen.<BR><BR>They also had an enormous library of CD's you could take back to your room, as all the rooms have CD players, and all the rooms on the Club level have little mini terry cloth robes and sunglasses for the kids. Very cute.

We have stayed at the Ritz in Cancun, Naples and Philadelphia, all on the concierge floor. Definitely worth the money!

Any hotel in the Orient, ie. Hong Kong, Taipei, etc. They anticipate your sneezes and do not allow a single used tissue to linger in your trash can. You arrive and they virtually take over, coming in and arranging your room immediately. It is like having a butler and a footman and a lady's maid, all in one. I don't think there is ANYTHING a Hong Kong assigned room butler wouldn't do for a client. Seriously. I have had better room service in Hong Kong than in any restaurant in New York. I did have a masseuse (female and I am female) once in Tokyo who laughed the whole time at my round bottom. Apparently Japanese women have flat bottoms. Otherwise it was very nice after 20 hours on an airplane.

True Story - the Chateau Laurier Hotel in Ottawa boasted it could handle any guest's request. The english speaking (but functionally bilingual)head concierge got a request (in french) from a french-speaking guest for '16 trombones'. The concierge pulled out all the stops, contacted all the music stores in town, and had 16 trombones ready for the guest within two hours. The guest was totally astonished to be handed all these horns. That's because 'trombones' in french means 'paperclips'. LOL

The Lanesborough in London.<BR>Rooms come with a private butler.<BR>They are known for unsurpassed service.<BR>Famous stories include a guest who didn't like the flowers in the gardens outside her room, so the management had them removed at night and replanted with preferred flowers before the next AM.<BR>Another, a guest who didn't like the drapes in her room. Management had them removed and new ones brought in to suit the guest's taste.<BR>Now THAT'S service!!
