Most people will tell you to go to Legal Seafood, but I favor Jacob Wirth's. Since 1868. Go there for lunch. The Union Oyster House is fun, too -- since 1826. Everybody from Daniel Webster to JFK ate there. Durgin-Park has a fun old-time atmosphere, too, if you can stand the touristicisms of Faneuil Hall.

I went to Chowderfest a couple of years. By far the best I had was cooked up by the Navy boys whose ship was in the harbor. Good lord that was some good soup.

Siince the "chowda:" of Legal is now made in their commisory on the pier...just go around tasting everybody elses.. it's still good though.

Ned Devines Irish Pub sounds like my kind of place for chowda. Nothing better than great grub in a casual setting. And probably more affordable than the other places. :-)
