Best City in FL for truck driving jobs
I used to live in Holiday in Pasco County on the west coast. It was nice when I bought there but very quickly became WAY too populated for my taste (I'm a country girl). Been living very happily in a log cabin in the Adirondack Park in upstate NY on 5 acres of woodland until I left my husband last year.
Currently in Lynchburg VA and want to move back to Florida to be somewhat closer to my only living nephew (he's in Clearwater/Dunedin).
I was hoping to find a nice area in the northern end of Florida on the east coast where I could live and MAYBE work in Georgia and still get home at least every other night but every night is preferable. WHERE would be good?
OR, where would be good just outside some of the larger cities in the north where I could live in a "rural-ish" area and travel in to get my truck or whatever?
OR, would any jobs for truckers be available in the keys? I've never been to any area's other than Pinellas and Pasco counties. Need some ideas if you can help me.
Am considering the east coast hoping that it's a bit less humid than the west coast. More breezy is good too.
My favorite things to do are stay home, gardening (when it's not TOO hot), I would really love free concerts in parks, food or other street festivals, and things such as this. Not big on restaurants, arts, movies, shopping, etc. Pretty prehistoric in that sense I guess. Don't want to be around a LOT of people ALL the time. Small doses is fine.
Thanks. (PS, I'm coming in on 60 years of age if that helps, don't want to be around a gazillion kids playing basketball in the street outside my bedroom 24/7)

What state is your Class A CDL in?
Check with Intel Logistics in Brunswick GA.
The truck driving job that gets you home every night is driving a garbage truck for Waste Management. They also have jobs in the Brunswick area.

Florida trucking means produce and citrus up 95. Most of the produce is way south of where you want to be; citrus is more widely distributed. As you know, this is time sensitive trucking, and I would guess that there are a fair number of empty backhauls from Up North.
If you want to sleep at home every other night, what about FedEx or UPS, city to city, not local delivery? Just guesses.

This is just my thought; but I would guess any openings like this would be grabbed by drivers from within the company wanting to transfer out of the snow belt. Other than long haul produce or some kind of local right in the large cities; its probably not going to be easy to find.
I work for an LTL in Tennessee and all kinds of drivers from the north want to transfer here, guessing Florida would be even worse.

OP's post was 6 months ago - she also had a similar post (at the same time) looking to "live in a shack" on the beach and get a "trucking job" in the Caribbean. OP never came back to either thread.
Regulars responding on the other thread concluded she was a dreamer who was either planning to go or was a recent graduate of a truck driving school.
Don't waste time giving a response.
