If you want to splurge, i don't think you can find a better, more inventive asian meal in dc than at yanyu, on connecticut ave in cleveland park. it is out of this world.

IM NOT MAKING THIS UP!!!
Big Wong's in DC in Chinatown is wonderful.
I second the Yanyu suggestion, but I would also highly recommend Cafe Asia, which has locations downtown and in Arlington.

Thai- Star of Siam, about 1140 19th Street, NW.
Chinese- Chinatown, a block from the MCI Center, had several. I like Tony Cheng's Mongolian Grill. Just read that Al Sharpton ate there Monday. I don't think that reflects badly on the food, only the company Tony Cheng keeps. Marion Barry liked to eat there, too. Between crack hits, maybe.

FullKey in Chinatown (very close to the Metro). Has great pan-fried noodles and lots of different soups.

Tara Thai with several locations in the DC area is always a good pick.

I really like City Lights near DuPont Circle and Sala Thai

Chris-I thought Big Wong's shut down?? Is there hope that they're still in business??? Please tell me!

Try Cajun Bangkok in Old Town Alexandria. Kind of a different take on some Thai dishes.

For take out/delivery, try Ho King (another fine name, in the tradition of Big Wong) on Van Dorn Street. Alexandria does not have much in the way of good Chinese delivery places, and this is the best I've found.

CITY LIGHTS OF CHINA!!!!!

A trip to DC is not complete until you eat there. I wish they had delivery to me in Tampa. :)

City Lights is in Dupont Circle
Have you ever tried Korean food? It's great! And the best Korean retaurant is Woo Lae Oak, across the street from the Pentagon City Mall in Crystal City. Try it, it's wonderful!

Thanks for the suggestions. We made it to the Tara Thai in Idlewood not far from Tysons Corner - it was just great and very reasonable. We will make it a point to try the others next time.
