Best Chicago Airport Hotel???

HI,
We will be flying in to Chicago Airport in August where we have a 13 hour layover. We arrive at 5am and our flight leaves the following day at 6.40pm.... which airport hotel should we book? I have just started looking for a hotel and came across the Hilton - the big draw there is it is attached to the airport. What others are nice and pretty close?

Thanks,
Imelda

Which airport?

SOunds like she means O'Hare. The Rernaissance Suites is nice, walking distance from the Blue Line train that goes to both the city and the airport. The Marriott is in the same area. a little older hotel and a longer walk. Tyhe Sofitel is nice, as is the Hyatt, one stop closer to O'Hare. However, if you are looking for a good deal rather than proximity, most of the airport hotels have a shuttle to a Blue Line station.

The Marriott is very nice and attached to O'Hare if that is the airport you are flying from.

Telling us which would be nice.

Imelda,

Do you leave the same day you arrive at 6:40 pm or do you leave the following day at 6:40? You say both! It makes a difference in terms of where to stay.

It is the Hilton rather than the Marriott that is at O'Hare Airport. I think for such a minimal amount of time it would best serve your needs--just stagger across to it when you arrive. It is nearest to Terminal 3.

I have same comment as Marija. If you're arriving at 5 am and leaving the NEXT DAY at 6:40 pm, you have 37 hr layover rather than 13. If that's the case, I'd stay overnight in the Loop and take advantage of downtown. I'm also assuming you're arriving/leaving from O'Hare.

Finally!!! I can post!!!!
I haven't abandoned the post I just couldn't post for some reason - no matter how I tried - I even deleted all my cookies as suggested on another post but that didn't work either... anyways, I'm glad the board is back to normal ....

You are correct in guessing that it's ORD we are flying into (I felt very silly not saying!)
Also, sorry for the confusion but to clarify, we arrive at 5am August 3rd and fly out the same evening August 3rd at 6.40pm.
I was thinking the Hilton as the nearest place to get some sleep at that hour of the morning. Does anyone know if, because we are arriving so late, they would allow us a late checkout and if so how late? I don't really want to pay for two nights if possible.

Thanks for all the replies and apologies for the lack of info!

Call the Hilton (directly), not the Hilton national 800 res number. Ask for a day rate.

Day rates will usually apply for 9a to 4 or 5p, but if there are empty rooms the res mngr will not only give you a better rate but also allow to check in very early.

btw, it is Hilton, not Marriott that's attached to the terminals.

Imelda,
I called the Hilton because I wasn't sure that anyone there spoke Irish. Their dayrooms are $135 plus 15.4% tax. Check is at 9 AM. Checkout is 6 PM. If the hotel is full the night before, they can't promise earlier checkin.
