Best Charleston Hotel/Inn
I have a business associate from NYC looking to visit Charleston with a lady friend over Thanksgiving. If cost is not an object, where is the best (central) place for him to stay. Thanks in advance.

We had a wonderful experience on the concierge floor of the Charleston Place, which is an Orient-Express Hotel. The food alone on that floor was worth the trip! It's in a great location, too.

We just visited Charleston for the first time a few weeks ago. We stayed at the Venue Inn and liked it very much. I would not recommend anything but a junior or deluxe suite. It's only a block from the water and in the heart of the historic district. It was highly recommended by Fodorites who rarely steer you the wrong way. We visited several places we had considered, just out of curiosity, and were doubly pleased with our choice. We considered Charleston Place and stopped by for a look. It's a very nice hotel, but we wanted the B&B atmosphere. However, you get a lot of street noise at the B&Bs--Charleston place would definitely be much more quiet if that's important to you.

Sorry--that's Vendue Inn, not Venue.

2 Meeting Street Inn is a wonderful inn located right on the Battery. It is a beautiful place and the people who work there are very helpful and friendly. A very romantic getaway.

I'd have to agree with Susan on this one. Stay at the concierge level at Charleston Place. Its a wonderful place.

The Vendue Inn is wonderful and very Charleston. It is surrounded by wonderful restaurants, quaint walks and the waterfront. The rooftop bar is a wonderful way to observe the harbor. Charleston Place is a wonderful hotel for convention goers. Charleston is full of some of the best restaurants in the South. Enjoy.
