Best Cell Phone Service in Texas?
 

Hi,

I am heading to Texas soon to look around and I just wanted to see if anyone can tell me the best cell phone service in San Antonio/Austin area?

My contract is ready to expire and I just thought I would see which ones are the best out there to avoid dropped calls, etc.

San Antonio is Cingular (SBC) home territory and I know their coverage is good in both SA and Austin. I've also had good results with Verizon in both cities.

I am in Houston and I have Sprint. I do have a few problems with dead areas and dropped calls but I've learned where to expect them.

The reason I've chosen them is they have a (small) discount for state employees and the evening minutes start at 7p.m.

I've used my phone in SA without problem but haven't been to Austin in 20 years! Yes, that was obviously before my first cell phone.

Our Cingular worked really well from DFW to Austin and points in between when we were there several weeks ago. (And in our own house here in So Cal - no signal at all....)

DH and I live in San Antonio and we've been happy using Sprint...the only place we have been where there was no coverage is in Alaska.
