Best Car Rental in Orlando
Can anyone advise on the best car hire company? I will be in Orlando in November. Also does anyone know where I can get any discount coupons as I am in the UK.
|
All the major car hire companies can be found at the Orlando airport; Hertz,Avis,Alamo,National,Budget,Dollar. These companies have locations nationwide mainly at airports. They are basically the same offering weekly and daily rates with unlimited mileage. The only difference is the model & make of car they rent. In Orlando, Alamo consistently offers the lowest weekly rates of all the companies. For discount coupons try the Automobile Association in the U.K.(It's American conterpart is the Automobile Association of America- AAA) or try contacting Hertz or Avis in the UK. They might have offices in London or Heathrow airport.
good luck!

National Car Rental has a drop off site at Walt Disney World (actually two) if that's a desire. For discounts -- try the companies' websites -- sometimes discounts are offered on-line.

Was in Orlando recently. The lowest price for a rental car was Alamo - I researched them all. The site is off airport property, but shuttles run frequently.
Alamo does usually have the lowest price in Orlando, but it also has the longest lines. My personal experience and that of my family members is a wait to get on the bus, then the ride, then a wait in line for the rental from 30 minutes to 2 hours. I found a lower price this winter from Thrifty via the Preview Travel website and had a smooth rental experience. In my opinion, the best companies for service are Avis and Hertz. We get good discounts from them through our insurance company and sometimes AAA. Their websites do often list specials available to anyone.

We've been three times in the last three years. Twice we've gone with Alamo and this year we went with Dollar Rent-a-Car. Dollar wasn't that much more expensive AND the convenience of picking the car up at the airport cannot be overstated. I HATE THE ALAMO BUSES!!!! Even if the buses run frequently, it's frustrating to locate your luggage at baggage claim, haul them down to where the buses are, lug them on the bus, off the bus, and then wait at the Alamo terminal. You aren't allowed to bring the luggage inside so one of you goes in to get the car and the other is stuck outside forever waiting with the bags. It's a miserable experience and not worth the money you save.

Find someplace at the airport. Avis, Budget, Dollar and National are all on site at Orlando International. It's well worth the extra money!

my past renting experiance can tell you that you should always request a mid or full-size car. then upon check-in ask for the upgrade inevitably it will be cheaper unless they are sold out.

Dollar...you can book on their web
site and use the promotion code KISS.
In terminal service very good!

I would agree about picking a rental car up at the airport - it makes life much easier. As regards which company to go with, Avis and Dollar are both good. Also, I would highly recommend a web site I came across at: Oneclicktravel.com where you can compare car rental rates from all the major companies on one screen and make online reservations. We did this and the car was ready for us at the airport, all in all we were very happy with the service, so this is a good option.

Thanks for the information on Oneclicktravel.com Paul - very helpful. We managed to find a rental car for collection at the airport and at a really good rate - saves the hassle of shopping around as they do it for you.
