best car rental company
I'm travelling to San Francisco in early April 2003 and want to pick up a rental car and drive to Lake Tahoe, Yosemite and then finally onto Fresno airport.
Can anyone give any advice on the rental companys that operate from Fresno airport and hidden costs to look out for.
The rental companys which use Fresno are Avis, Budget, Dollar, Herts & National.

Do you text search here, buddy

And it is HERTZ
|
You need to go to Travelocity.com and check in the rental car section for Fresno to be certain what your options are.
Hertz is the US's best rental agency, but they usually have very hefty one way surcharges.
And if the drop off is in an undesirable city, much of the time they'll just say "can't be done".
National has the most friendly one way options in my experience.
Of course you'll need to verify all this with a human being by phone once you make your plans.
When doing something unusual like dropping one way to Fresno, do not assume everything will work out as a website might imply.
Definitely verify everything by phone so you don't get socked with unanticipated fees.

Mike thanks for the advice.

Hertz hands down is the best rental company. Check their website for specials and, if you are a AAA member check their website as well as the coupons you receive in the Westways magazine.

If you were traveling in and out of the same airport, I would suggest you use Priceline as you will get a great deal and generally get Hertz.
