Best Buffet in Vegas is????

Wanted to hear what you think is the best buffet in Vegas. I've heard that Bellagio has one of the best breakfast buffets and that the Rio has a pretty good buffet too but wanted some more ideas. I'd like to hear what your favorites foods are at these places as well. I'm kind of picky so knowing what dishes make them the best will help me a great deal. I'll be visiting in August with my family.

For breakfast, I like The Buffet at the Wynn the best.

(It's more like a brunch buffet, with food other than that traditionally associated with breakfast as well as all of your breakfast favorites.)

If you're picky, I suspect the buffets aren't going to be of value to you because they're expensive and eating the more exotic foods makes them worth their while. I like Bellagio for the beef wellington and smoked sturgeon and osso bucco. I thought Paris was good but I still favor Bellagio. Paris is more classic French (salmon/dill, vol au vent, duck a l'orange, etc). Bally's Sterling was arguably the best because of the bottomless champagne and oysters but at $75ish, you have to drink the champage and eat the more exotic dishes to make it worth it. The first time I ate at mandalay's I thought it was mediocre but the more recent time it was actually pretty good and might be more your pace, the fried chicken was excellent. The dishes there were more "meat and potatoes"...

The travel channel had a special on LV (when doesn't it?) and they were in the kitchen of the Bellagio. Wolfgang Puck was there and showed his creations. It seemed above average to me. I would like to try this one, and the one at the Paris. That is on my list. The one thing at the Bellagio was buffalo meat and some items I would not be so fond of it were me.

WYNN!!!

trippinkpj May 22nd, 2006 03:16 PM

Myabe I ask what the price is on the weekday breakfast buffett at the Wynn? I know, if I have to ask, I probably can't afford it, LOL. :-)

Gekko May 22nd, 2006 03:27 PM

I went to The Buffet at the Wynn last week for breakfast. I had comps, but I believe the non-comp price was $25.99 or $29.99.

I ate more than that in boiled shrimp alone. 'Tis an opportunity for gluttony, yes indeed.

gotribe May 22nd, 2006 03:32 PM

No, no, the weekday breakfast at Wynn is only $15.95.

Are there medium priced buffets in Vegas, as in $15-$20 range for dinner? Or is that a thing of the past?? How about the downtown restaurants? I would think they would be cheaper than the strip.

There are many! But don’t look for any buffet in the down town area. There are very few.

Best bet for this price range, is just off the strip. Try the Orleans’, Southcoast, Palace Station, Palms, these all have dinner buffets for 20 bucks or less. But check the day; they will not hesitate to up the price on a weekend or during a large convention. The farther you go, the less it will cost, often matching the quality, but half the price (something to consider if you are paying for a large party).

The above mentioned buffets will get you the basic meat and ‘taters. They usually have the standard "international" food stations and you will find something to chow down on. Don’t expect Mr. Puck to come out and greet you! ;)

Great input so far, any more???

ChristieP May 23rd, 2006 09:02 AM

Palace Station's weekday breakfast buffet is $4.99 per person, and you really can't beat that! They have omlettes and eggs cooked to order, and just about everythign else imaginable.

jcena May 23rd, 2006 10:52 AM

Even though it's not like it used to be, there are still TONS of cheap buffets in Vegas. Now the quality of the food might be a different story though! Downtown has quite a few. One of the best ones is at the Main St. Station.

CYNCITYFAN May 24th, 2006 02:35 AM

^As far as I know, that is the only buffet worth while in DT. Even then, I could only reccomend the brunch on weekends.

IMO, everything else DT isnt worth the trip over there... Have they improved over the last few years?

trippinkpj May 24th, 2006 05:43 PM

Golden Nugget has a very good buffet. I think weekday breakfast and lunch are still 8-9 ish...

vegaslocal May 31st, 2006 11:59 AM

FYI - I have a friend in town who wanted to go to the Rio. We had dinner at the Rio's buffet (the regular buffet, not the seafood buffet). It was $24.00 per person and the food sucked BIGTIME. It was a total rip off. I will never go there again.

Just went to the Wynn Buffet for the first time a couple weeks ago. We went for Saturday lunch, but it ended up being Brunch there for $24.95 w/o champagne. It was GREAT!! We also went to the Aladdin Buffet for dinner and I think Wynn was far better. Can't wait to get back for dinner!!

Generally I think buffets are not worth it for two reasons- 1) I'm not supposed to eat that much :-d and 2) hubby and I got HORRIBLY sick from food poisoning after eating at Excalibur's King Aurthur buffet (which my dad loves).

Having said that, dinner buffet at the Paris was Wonderful!

OlgaM May 31st, 2006 02:13 PM

One of the things that confused me (easily confused I will admit) is that when deciding which buffet is best, the day of the week and the time of the day will make a difference. Especially when it comes to breakfast. We loved the Rio, but not atmosphere. We loved Paris for breakfast due to the atmosphere. In the Paris breakfast buffet, it was so intimate. We didn't plan it, but got there in time to pay for breakfast, but got lunch too for $12.99 during the week.

Paris is great - however seafood buffet at the Rio is unbelievable.

have fun.

OldSouthernBelle May 31st, 2006 04:05 PM

mackie17: I thought so too, but thought things must have changed after reading a review on the above link (we were there about 4-5 years ago. A cabbie recommended it. They can be a wealth of info if you just ask! Glad you agree it was a real deal!

Pumpy May 31st, 2006 06:28 PM

Maybe it's me or the only time I went, but thought the Rio buffet was lousy! Not only was the food fair at best but it was as crowded as Walmart the day after Thanksgiving.

jcena Jun 1st, 2006 07:09 AM

The regular buffet at the Rio is the biggest, but has been known for years as just being OK. Now the seafood buffet there is another story!

shortcake05479 Jun 5th, 2006 12:45 PM

My friends and I all felt sick after going to the buffet at the Flamingo, so I know I'll be avoiding that one when I go this summer!!!

The one at Paris is decent - really cute "village" environment. I'm a picky eater too, and I didn't find a whole lot to eat though...but what I had was good.

lsis Jun 5th, 2006 12:53 PM

hands down bellagio buffet (dinner)- their sea bass is to die for!

diann Jun 5th, 2006 01:03 PM

What is cost of the dinner? Do you need reservations?

Braunsky Jun 6th, 2006 07:31 PM

OK - best buffet is personal, but we have eaten our way through every buffet on the strip in Vegas except for Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and Monte Carlo. Here's my take. Best value for high quality food - Wynn's for lunch or dinner. Best breakfast Buffet - Paris. Next best breakfast buffet - the Big Kitchen at Bally's, especially if you like a smaller setting. Best moderately priced buffet at $13-$20 and most entertaining view - Paradise Garden at the Flamingo - the food is good and consistent if not overwhelming, although sometimes they excel, the staff is great, and the flamingos, coi, waterfalls, swans, ducks and other assorted creatures are beautiful. Bellagio's buffet has great food, but it is the most expensive and is unbelievably noisy because of all the hard surfaces. We ate there once and never again. MGM - good food, but the crowds are overwhelming. Treasure Island and Mirage - nothing to write home about. Best middle eastern buffet (there's a specialty category) - Alladin, although the service wasn't great.

What great responses you guys. Excited about all of the suggestions. Can't wait to try the Paris Buffet and the Wynn lunch or dinner buffet.

Dohlice Jun 7th, 2006 08:32 AM

The buffet at the Rio is absolutely disgusting.

Bally's has a great buffet. I can't remember what it cost but I've been there on 2 different trips and it was inexpensive. I've heard Paris has an excellent one. Higher in price, but better choices.

Please DO NOT eat at the Rio.

sunshine Jun 7th, 2006 10:47 AM

We love the buffets at the Wynn and Bellagio. We used to like the Paris buffet, but didn't enjoy it last time. The worst ones we've ever been to were the MGM grand breakfast buffet and Bally's lunch buffet. There wasn't one thing on there that looked good.

Carol47 Jun 8th, 2006 05:13 AM

The weeekend gourmet buffet at Bellagio was wonderful. Only problem was that I almost fell asleep at "O" afterwards. Lesson= don't go to a buffet so close to showtime!
The best was the "The Sterling Brunch" at Bally's on Sundays. Everyone should try it at least once.
Am thinking of trying the weekday dinner buffet at either Wynn or Bellagio this trip, in a few weeks.

Last week, we ate at two buffets. The first was at the Mirage for supper. It was about $50 for the two of us, and neither of us were impressed. It is very geared toward Asian food. The prime rib was excellent, but we just didn't find much we really wanted to eat other than that.

The second was an early supper at the Stratosphere. I think it was around $20/pp (I'm not sure because our meal was comped), and we really liked this buffet. The prime rib was good (just not quite the Mirage quality), but the selection was excellent. We also bought a $6 bottle of White Zinfandel to have with our meal, and suprisingly, it was pretty tasty! We had no great expectations for it at $6/bottle, but it was good! We noticed many tables had a bottle of wine (I think there were about five to choose from).
Hope this helps. Have a great trip!

Hello,
I thought Paris was slightly better than Bellagio for both breakfest and dinner. Since I was there about 10 months ago, Paris has added two stations, one featuring melted cheese over meat and vegetables, and one featuring grilled meats and seafood. I thought the crepes here were excellent. Check out the Paris hotel web site for all the information on the buffet. Also, for customer reviews of all things Vegas, go to www.ratelasvegas.com

I just returned from LV. In fact I ate last night at the Wynn Buffet for dinner. The Bellagio and Wynn are the best. We ate at the Gourmet Bellagio on Sat. night and it was wonderful and I do not care for Buffets as rule. This was very good, and the desserts are better at the Bellagio than the Wynn. The Wynn had cupcakes for one of there desset choices. This didn't make a strong WOW factor for me.

cheribob Jun 13th, 2006 09:09 PM

I second the buffet at Orleans. I thought it was a lot better than the seafood buffet at the Rio.

I also ate at the buffet in the Golden Nugget. It was good but not especially memorble.
