best buffet in vegas??
Going back to Vegas in June and have tried a few buffets there, have not been too impressed so far, Rio has a big variety of food but you feel like you're in a food court at a mall and it doesn't all that good. Tried aladdin's lunch buffet- which was pretty good but does anyone have any recommendations for the best tasting buffett with good quality food?
THANKS!
Do your homework! Do a search here..just type in Vegas buffets and you should get lots of results.

When eating at troughs out of those Las Vegas buffets, don't forget to tip your waitperson!

tHe hApPy wAiTeR

Bellagio NO contest

caesar's, mandalay bay, mirage.....all great
Be careful accepting any food, buffet or otehrwise, from the Happy Queen Waiter.
The quality of the buffet's have gone downhill in recent years. Bellagio's buffet is not very good anymore, in my opinion, except the desserts, which is fantastic. But to pay that much $$ just to eat desserts is ridiculous!
Geez, I wasn't even all that impressed with the desseerts at Bellagio's buffet.
I can't say I've ever been to a buffet that I enjoyed as much as a good midpriced restaurant.
Buffets are all about volume discount and getting bloated IMO.
I liked the Orlean's hotels buffet....very resonably priced and so many selections.....the worst by far was the Pharoahs Feast at the Luxor....second worst was the breakfast buffet at NYNY>
I liked Luxor and Harrah's, I thought the Rio was overrated and waaay too long of a line.
I like the Excalibur buffet. For 10.69 plus tip you actually get ok food. It certainly isn't the BEST or high class dining but I like the selection....and all the shrimp you can eat!!! Also Excalibur has lots of kids so I can butt in front of them in line and/or arm wrestle them to get that last dessert. Also, it just occured to me that one of the best eats I ever had in Vegas was the time we walked down from one end of the strip to the other on a hot day. Stopping in casino after casio. At every casino we got a free drink. Finally (at around 10:30 @ night) it occured to us that we had not eaten since breakfast and lots of buffets close at 10:00...all except one...THE SURF N TURF BUFFET at the HOLIDAY INN on the Boardwalk....open 24/7. Maybe it was all the booze or the sheer starvation or that the people we were with were so much fun but that buffet ,for 6.99 was the best feedin I had in a long time!!!

Hello, Just returned from vegas where we ate at several buffets. All were comped with the exception of the Aladdin Spice Market dinner buffet - the Aladdin was by far the best, lots of choices and great tasting. about $22 for dinner. We ate at the Bellagio weekend champagne dinner buffet and was glad it was free because if I paid the $32 I would have been very disappointed. The place is noisy and the food was nothing special. Good desserts but very limited selection. Ate at MGM Grand for breakfast - good - and dinner - OK. Mirage buffet had a nice selection for dinner and the food was good but nothing to rave about. Skip the Treasure Island buffets. Very small, limited selections and bad layout.
A nice feature of the Paris buffet (in addition to whatever you think of the food), is that you can stop by and pick up a ticket for a time to return instead of standing in line.
If price is no object, Paris and Bellagio are the best. Orleans is very good and reasonably priced.
Thanks for all your advice, looks like orleans, bellagio are in the forefront, will try these on my next visit
we just returned and LOVED the ballagio, I can't imagine why the person above didn't like it. Every kind of fish, beef wellinton, etc.,The best 32.00 we ever spent. My next 2 choices are Paris, and the alladin. Breakfast at Paris was great too.......Bon Appetit
Ballagio, Paris and Mirage all have good buffets. MGM Grand has the worst one we've ever eaten at.
THE RIO by far the best!!!!
You know that the Imperial Palace has a great buffet. We thought to go back to the Montecarlo one, but when we did and walked so far to eat there, we were disappointed. We should have just gone back to the Palace. Ballagio was very good also, but expensive.
Rio's buffet WAS one of the best....in the mid-1990's.

Now it's the Domino's Pizza of buffets. Looks OK, smells OK, filling, but nothing special.
My favorite is the Paris Buffet. I've eaten at Bellagio, Monte Carlo, Caesar's, MGM and I like Paris best.
Buffets suck...why not go to a reasonable restaurant and order what you want...just my opinion. It will be hot and made to order. There are many reasonable restaurants where you can get what you really want without waiting in lines or getting mass=made food. Craig
Most Buffets do suck but compared to the ones I have been to, Vegas Buffets are a far cry from horrible.

I thought the Rio was good, lots of selections. I have heard from a lot of people (on here and in person) that the Rio has gone downhill though. We also did the Dinner Buffet at the Aladdin and it was pretty good. I liked their mediteranean/middle eastern food. And they had a great selection of deserts, including choc covered strawberries! Will have to try Bellagio next time.
Craig, the reason you don't appreciate buffets is because you're probably not an overweight two fisted Big Mac pounding coronary artery choking American statistic, like most people who love buffets.
It's all about quantity. Food by the pound.
And hey, if the food has fancy sounding names and stuff, then being a buffet lover can even appear to be a classy thing.
62% of Americans are overweight.
That's why buffets are popular.
Richard, I am 100 pounds and a size 4. I ate the salads, fish, grilled vegatables, etc.at the buffets. maybe you are the overweight statistic, and are just too embarrased to be seen there. Ya think??? ( By the way, I never tasted a Big Mac in my life)

Hi Traveller!

Glad you posted this thread. We are going to Vegas in a couple of weeks and are looking forward to trying out some of the buffets.
Personally I like buffets not to gorge myself but as a way to sample different foods.
Yeah, have fun sampling all the bacteria ridden food from the buffet.
Of the higher-end buffets ($22 avg dinner) I'd say Paris, Bellagio and Aladdin are all okay.

Of the more moderate buffets, Sam's Town, Orleans, Gold Coast (newly remodeled) and Golden Nugget (downtown) are probably among the best.

The buffets don't seem to be very consistent. One month they're great, next month terrible. Even time of day matters. Get there about an hour after opening time and the food's usually the best. Too early and you're getting yesterday's leftovers. Too late and everything's cold and picked-over.

A group of 4 can do better at a build-your-own buffet at places like Cheesecake Factory (Caesars Palace) or Grand Luxe Cafe (Venetian) or Wolfgang Puck Cafe (MGM). Share a few appetizers and a couple of entrees, then order some decadent desserts and pass them around.

Sharing is popular in Vegas, don't hesitate or feel awkward. Just ask for extra plates!
I can't imagine paying $32 for all the overcooked steam table food I can cram down my throat no matter how "good" you say this is. For $32 in Las Vegas you can get some really good prepared to order food that is served to you in style. Anyone who goes to these buffets for that price is just interested in quantity not quality. That's fine if you aren't a lover of GOOD food, just like to get stuffed.
