Best Budget Vacation in April

My fiance is turning 30 in April. For his birthday, I would like to take him on a short vacation 3-4 days (budget). Could anyone give me any suggestions. We are not club type people. Thanks

Something you can easily drive to from where you are. You don't mention the starting point, but there's bound to be a scenic wonder within 300 miles of your home.

What is your budget and what part of the US will you be traveling from? These facts will help you get suggestions - more info is needed.

It would help to know your starting point, budget and interests (beach, snorkel, golf, vegging, etc) but, Florida, Carribbean prices go down in April.

I took my husband to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for his 40th (from Dallas in May); he took me to the Bahamas for mine (cruised from Florida in March). This year I am taking him to Bermuda for his 50th (from Boston).

hope this helps,

janet

I apologize. It would be better to give more information. My starting point is Philadelphia. My buget maximum is $700 of course not including meals.

Why not take the train to Wash DC for the weekend? The town of Alexandria, Virginia would be a charming place to stay for the weekend and easy to get in and out of DC on the subway to see the museums and other sights.

Denise - Boston is a great city to visit, much to see and do and lots of fun. I turned 30 last year and went with some friends, we had a blast. Check out www.citysearch.com for lots of information. I also heard that Martha's Vineyard is very nice.

Nashville, TN is a good option. It is a 12 hour drive from Philly and a fun/interesting city to visit. If you are looking for a more laidback trip, I would check out a B&B in the smokey mountains.

$700 for 3-4 days, not including meals, is a not a budget trip!

Go to the Bahamas, New York City, a cruise.

It's quite likely that you could get a package deal trip for two to the Bahamas in about that price range incl hotel and airfare. I've been told that meals are very pricey there for what you get. That budget would also work for a weekend in NYC. There are hotel bargains sometime available for $150 night approx at some fairly decent hotels in NYC. There's a huge selection of restaurants in every imaginable price range. You;d also have enough $$ in the budget to get TKTS 1/2 price tix to a Broadway show or see some good music at one of the nicer clubs (e.g. BB King's Blues Club, which has a wide range of music - much of it genres other than blues). Whether is usually decent here in April but not much different than Philly. For something different and much warmer but not offshore you might consider Savannah GA - I've read/heard good things about it and the price would probably fit.
