I had it in one of the restaurants in Colonial Williamsburg. I have no idea if it was authentic, but it was good.

"I lived in the Hampton Roads area for a couple of years and never saw Brunswick Stew on a menu."

You and obxgirl obviously do not go to the right restaurants and are missing out.

Chickahominy House, Carrot Tree, and Pierces offer it and if any restaurant would be considered an institution in Williamsburg, those 3 would be on the list.

I've had Brunswick Stew with okra. It's pretty much the only time I'll eat okra.

I have met people that eat squirrel and are not ashamed to admit it.

Locals pointed us to The Grey Goose in Hampton which was only 22 minutes from our hotel. They have the Brunswick Stew everyday in their menu. They serve it in a aluminum bowl. It is tomato base with chicken, corn, carrots, lima beans, potatoes and seasoning. No okra and no squirrel!!! It was very good. I would like to post a photo in this reply but unfortunately it is not an option.
Thank you.

What a nice report back on a thread that really veered in weird directions. Glad you found and enjoyed it!

I wouldn't have had a good answer while you were looking. I have only ever seen it at cool-weather festivals (applebutter/maple type things where there is stew-weather).
