Yes, please tell us more! We will be at the Mandarin for Father's Day. Do you think I should make reservations for brunch early?
|
If you can't get reservations there, the Orchids at the Halekulani also has a good brunch buffet. I also recommend the Surf Room, or the Sheraton Hanohano Room with that fab view!

Just got back from Hawaii and had dinner brunch at the Mandarin. It is one of the best! Do make reservations though, it is popular with locals as well as tourists. Ask for a table on the patio, rather than inside.

Incredible fresh grill, sushi, desserts, and a beautiful view of the ocean.

Mjoo, about what does it cost for a dinner brunch there?
|
Linda,
A couple of my favorites (and I've been to a lot!) the Oceanarium restaurant in the Pacific Beach hotel in Waikiki. Huge spread of food, long salad/cold sides bar, great assortment of hot entrees (fish, crab, carved prime rib, ham ,etc..), sushi bar, terriffic dessert bar, I think it was well over 10 types, and all pretty good, such as mousse, coconut cake, chocolates... A good thing is its a good balance between price and food. I think it ran about 27/person.
The Mandarin one is very good too, but you will pay through the nose for it.
Another one is the Turtle Bay on the North Shore of Oahu. Good spread, and wonderful setting, right along the coast, so you can watch the waves roll in as you dine.
Most of these should have there menu on the net, so give it a look.
Happy eating!!!

Yum! The brunch at the Kahala Mandarin sounds absolutely delicious. What's a dinner brunch? Early dinner? Do they also do it during lunch-brunch? :) Do they have this only on Sundays? Also, what is the name of the restaurant at this hotel? It would be great if you can tell me approximately how much it costs. I am thinking of making a reservation for my upcoming trip in August. Thanks!

Topping for Maxine, and I'm interested in more info too about the Mandarin brunch (dinner brunch???). Thanks!

I have been to both the Mandarin and Halekulani brunch and I prefer the brunch at the Orchids in the Halekulani. The overall quality, presentation, choices and atmosphere seemed better, not that the Mandarin was bad. They are probably the top two hotel brunch choices in Honolulu.
