Best breakfast and/or lunch in downtown Chicago
 

We will be staying at the Omni and House of Blues for four nights, this coming Saturday through Wednesday, and are seeking a good place to have breakfast or lunch. I've gotten good ideas for dinners from this forum already. Sunday brunch is not an option, since we are booked on the Architectural Cruise at 11:00. I'd appreciate any suggestions and thanks, in advance.

Lunch - the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building - spectacular view.

Maggi, <BR> <BR>If you ever need something fast, reasonably priced, and delicious find the nearest Corner Bakery. The closest to the Mich. Ave. Omni is just two blocks away at LaSalle & Erie (double check intersection with front desk). There is also one at the Field Museum, and several others around town. Kind of boring, I know, but it is so convenient we find our selves returning on every trip. <BR> <BR>A fancier option, if you're on the Mag Mile, is Bistro 110. Very good food, great location, right across from Water Tower Place. <BR> <BR>

If you want a real Chicago breakfast, eat at Ronny's, just ask a local, this is a very small Chicago chain, these are dives, but you won't believe the price for what you get, and you will dine with "real" Chicagoans. For lunch, step up and try Heaven on 7, its very ritzy, lots of reporters eat there, its yummy! Have a time I miss the city, I'm in Tampa now.

p.s. <BR>if you choose heaven on seven, go to the one in the loop on wabash - NOT the one on rush in the michigan ave, shopping district <BR>the one on wabash is the original and full of locals, has great atmosphere (get there early for lunch - there's always a line but it moves fast)

Lunch at the Signature Room at the John Hancock Building. Not too expensive (~$30 for two, including tip) and the view is AMAZING! <BR> <BR>Also, you must eat at either Pizzeria Uno or Pizzeria Due while in Chicago.

I would have to vote for Lou Malnati's for the deep dish pizza. Caution if you don't like sausage. Keep in mind when you order a pan pizza with sausage at either Lou's or Pizzeria Uno the sausage will be a layer on the pizza. It's delicious but not for everyone...you can also order Lou's over the phone and have it shipped to you but it's not the same..

2 good reasonably priced breakfast places--The Cabridge House on Ohio & St. Clair (one block E of Mich Ave)--it's a coffee house with good breakfast, not fancy, but fast well priced. A little more expensive, but not much, is The West Egg at Fairbanks & Erie--a little "nicer" and a little more fancy and a little more $$$--but not real expensive & good

Cambridge House (above) is a good suggestion -- LOVE the spinach and feta omlette. The West Egg is also good, but it's on Fairbanks between Ohio and Ontario (across from the Holiday Inn City Center). Try the Blues and Cashews (pancakes with blueberries and cashew nuts -- sweet and salty!).<BR><BR>There's also Andrew's on Rush by the Lenox Suites hotel (another diner -- can't remember the cross street).<BR><BR>If you're looking for a quick, inexpensive lunch, Potbelly Sandwiches is a local chain that serves hot subs and hand-dipped shakes. You can get a sub, chips and a soda for about $6 -- try the Wreck. There's one in the food court at the North Bridge (Nordstrom mall) and one on Clark just south of Grand (among others).

I agree with Maggie. I love the Corner Bakery in Chicago, and always go there for breakfast.<BR><BR>
