Best Boston Hop On, Hop Off Tour?
I've noticed that there are several tour companies in Boston that offer Hop On, Hop Off bus or trolley tours. Any recommendations on which one to take?
Thanks! |
It has been a few years since my last time in Boston, but I really enjoyed the Trolley tour (that's the orange trolleys)
If I remember correctly, they are run by Grayline - and I always have great experiences with Grayline. Hope that helps |
Thanks. There's also a tour by a company called Viator, so I wasn't sure which was better.

perhaps if you give links to the tours, I might offer some insight. I work in Boston and know the area extensively, so might get a gist looking at their routes. If you have time to explore on your own, you may be best off taking a Duck Tour down the Charles River, (not the other one) to get a feel for the city and then explore on your own.

Oh, and have you checked trip advisor? I am sure that one or two have less trolleys, which means wasted time waiting for the next step of your journey.

I wasn't very fond of the hop-on/hop-off trolley tour I took in Boston, as must-see neighborhoods like the North End seemingly have streets too narrow for the vehicles. You can't get on and off the Duck Tours if memory serves, but they will go out onto the Charles River for a nice skyline view.
Boston is very compact and walkable, ideal for exploring on foot. Unless you have mobility issues, I'd go this route. |
