Best Beignets in New Orleans?

Where can I get the best beignets in New Orleans?

Howard Jul 7th, 2002 12:25 PM

Cafe du Monde on Decatur Street.

Cafe du Monde. Period. Don't get any imitations. While you're in the Quarter, try a muffalata from Central Grocery Store.

Be prepared for stomach ache afterwards. They are soaked with oil, and covered with powered sugar.

Did anyone say CAFE DU MONDE! No visit to Nawlins is complete w/o beignets and Cafe Aulait at Cafe Du Monde...

There is only 1 place & everyone has mentioned it. Cafe Du Monde. But they have branches in some of the malls outside of the Quarter & also at the airport (Concourse C area, I believe). As long as they are hot & fresh, it doesn't matter where I eat them. Of course nothing is nicer than sitting on Decatur street munching on some hot, fluffy beignets & being dusted with the powdered sugar with every bite. Word of advice... don't wear dark clothing when you go to eat them!
