Crescent Beach is the beach that UF students go to (as I did in my youth) as it is the closest to Gainesville. Keep that in mind when you consider the time of year that you go to this beach. It might get rowdy and crowded. Other than that, I'm not too experieced with the others. The last trip to SAB that I took I saw lots of condos and high-rises that hadn't been there before. But that's everywhere.

I don't find a whole lot of difference in any of those beach areas around St Augustine. If I were you, I'd pick a hotel/motel wherever you get the best deal, and go for the beach experience there. There'll be a pretty good bit of partying along all those beaches during spring break and summer. Good luck.

You would only have a problem with Crescent Beach during Spring Break time, and even with that, Daytona is a much bigger draw for the Spring Break crowd than Crescent Beach would be.
Crescent Beach is pretty nice and usually a quieter, family oriented beach.
