Best Beach area for single mom and three year old

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina would be a good location.

I would vote for Isle of Palms or Sullivans Island (both right next to each other) in SC about 5-10 miles outside of Charleston.

Do North Myrtle Beach...lots of places to stay and the beach is beautiful

I like some of the NC beaches - Wrightsville, Topsail, etc. I've gone there by myself and a) had a nice time and b) felt very comfortable. Kids would love them.

Brooklyn Bomber, the way you think sometimes!!!!

Anne probably mentioned being a single mother because she wanted somewhere that she and her child would be comfortable and feel welcome. It's hard a single mom, so a vacation is a really big thing!!!

I meant it's hard thing being a single mom...

I would recommend Myrtle Beach over Topsail mainly because with a 3-year-old you won't be staying on the beach too long, and Myrtle Beach has a very nice aquarium, an IMAX theatre, a butterfly pavillion, and Broadway at the Beach (which has rides and tons of interesting stuff). We've been to Topsail several times and love it- but for diversions - Myrtle Beach is the place to go.

Thanks Brooklyn Bomber for your interest but dln is right - just wanting the best place for both of us to enjoy.

ok - so if we go to Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach where are the best places to stay condidering budget and not wanting a party atmosphere ?
And what about lodging at Isle of Palms?

IOP:

Island Realty 1-800-476-0400 ask for a brochure or islandrealty.com. Prepare for sticker-shock. Otherwise, there is one holiday inn on the beach, you should be able to find it on Expedia

Anne, why not check out biddingfortravel.com
You can see from there what hotel bids others have gotten on priceline...you may get lucky and get a nice place for a good price.
Also, there was a post on here just last week about someone going to North Myrtle...and another person have a 1 BR condo in Cherry Grove...you may get lucky and find his response before they delete his post.

I have to second Island Realty in Isle of Palms or Sullivans because they are one of the best places to rent from. We have rented from them for 10+ years and still going strong.

Best place to stay in Myrtle Beach ( in the North Myrtle area-NOT NORTH MYRTLE BEACH) is the Myrtle Beach Hilton or Embassy Suites Kingston Plantation..

BOTH are OUT of the party atmosphere area and filled with singles, couples and tons of kids...

I definitely 2nd Myrtle Beach as there is TONS to do with kids there-MUCH MORE SO than Isle of Palms...
