I vote for Salt Lick in Driftwood (outside of Austin). It's served family style and is delicious (and worth the drive)!

I second the motion for Salt Lick. My daughter and her friends took me there a couple of years ago. Not only was the food great, the atmosphere was so much fun that i bought a tee shirt to commenorate the night! Great drive there, wonderful opportunity to view the ever-changing landscapes of Texas!

Welcome dona! You wouldn't be enjoying SXSW this week, would you? Going to the rodeo? It starts tonight!!

BBQ and Austin go hand-in-hand. There's so many places and everyone has a favorite. There's fancier places (I mean with plates and forks) and not-so-fancy (paper placemats, no forks).

Right in Austin, there's Stubb's downtown; several Rudy's locations; Claim Jumper; Jim Bob's; Buster's; and the list goes on and on.

Outside of Austin: in Lockhart, you'll find a local favorite-Kruez Market (oh-so-tender brisket); in Elgin there's the Southside Market (my favorite for baby back ribs); and of course the Salt Lick in Driftwood (no liquor license so you bring your own--also terrific peach cobbler!).

Just had ribs 2 nights ago but I'm hungry already again!
