Best B&B/New Orleans
Could anyone give me any suggestions on a great B&B that is convenient to the Convention Center. I would like one that is reasonable in price ($75 - 110).

"great B&B" and $75-110" don't belong together for the most part, unfortunately. The city's top B&B's charge well in excess of $150-200 a night.

Hal just beat me to it, but I think your price range may be a little unrealistic if you're coming during the busy season. There are few B&Bs truly convenient to the convention center, which is downtown. However, the Garden District, French Quarter, Mid City and Faubourg Marigny neighborhoods each have dozens of nice B&Bs and they're all a quick cab/streetcar/bus ride from the Morial Center.

We stayed at the Lafitte Guest House on Bourbon Street last January and it was fantastic! Above your price range - but definitely authentic New Orleans feeling. Don't know the cost this year but last year our room was around $200 but it had a balcony. I know they have less expensive ones and a great website. Have fun!

I disagree. There are great B&B's for reasonable prices. Like I have written before, I stayed at a great B&B in Algiers Point which is walking distance to the French Quarter and the convention center. It was around $95.00 per night and really nice. Please see previous comments on this B&B. See their web page at www.houseoftherisingsunbnb.com
Algiers Point is lovely and historic and beautiful to walk around.

It's a stretch to say Algiers Point is within walking distance of the French Quarter. Actually, it's a ferry ride away.

Hi Lisa,

My husband and I just returned from a long weekend in New Orleans, and we stayed at the Mandevilla Bed and Breakfast.

It's in the Garden District, but well worth it--fabulous place! Built in 1850, great rooms, and ours had a double jacuzzi.

The Garden District may not be right where the convention center is, but it's a very pretty area, and quiet at night. The B&B is right on St. Charles Ave, and you can pick up the street car for a nice ride downtown almost steps away from the B&B.

Besides ourselves, another couple we're friends with met us and stayed there as well, and they really enjoyed it too.

The # is: 1-800 288-0484. There's a website you can ask about, for more info.
It's also a bit higher than your price range, but it really is well worth it.

Yeah, I have to agree that saying Algiers Point is walking distance to just about anything else is a stretch. It's across the river! If you're going to ride the ferry, you may as well ride the streetcar or bus. This means all the other B&Bs are just as close.

For the record, I like the Algiers Point neighborhood a lot and the hosts of the House of the Rising Sun are nice folks!

Many of the French Quarter-area B&Bs cooperatively operate a web site at http://www.marigny.net. Perhaps it will help with your search?
