Best at Kaanapali?
 

Thinking about staying at the Westin Maui and am wondering if anyone wants to recommend another hotel?

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency last summer.Stay
away from there! Rooms were poorly maintainted,
and this was a concierge level!
The new kid on the beach there is the Sheraton.
It just re-opened, brand new from the ground up and they have the biggest and nicest beach in that area.
Great swimming and snorkeling right there at
Black Rock.

Don't even look for another hotel. We weren't fortunate enough to stay at the Westin when we were in Maui but we did go over for a meal and walked around the grounds in wonderment. Just the huge ball room where the front wall is actually a curtain which is drawn back so you can see the giant karp and flamingos and the breaking beach beyond. The grounds work and rolling brook that runs about is fantastic. (As are the macaws that bop about the lobby. Stay there and enjoy.

We have stayed numerous times at the Marriott - Kaanapali and it's been great! Hyatt is next door but very pricey. Rooms at Marriot are not outstanding but very, very nice. You can walk up the beach (tree lined sidewalk} to Whaler's Village with it's shops and restaurants and wondering through the Westin on up the beach. Snorkel off Black Rock (near the Sheraton). Lahaina is just minutes away for evening dining and shopping. The Hula Grill has a geat sidewalk restaurant with great food and happy hour specials.

We have stayed at the Maui Marriott on Kanaapali several times (we'll be there again in August). It is reasonably priced and the room are very adequte. There is a tree-lines side walk along the beach. You can walk to Whaler's Village with its many restaurants and shops (try the Hula Grill) and stop at the Hyatt, Westin and Sheraton Hotels to browse. Lahania is minutes away for dining and shopping. Hard RockCafe, Kimo's, Cheeseburger in Paradise are great for waterfront dining. Moose McGillycuddy"s is a great place to stop first for a drink and appetizer before dinner. Be forewarned, if you stay at the Marriott and have a room overlooking the pool -- you will listen to the luau each evening!!!! But it's a georgeous view at daylight!
