Best area in Vermont?

Hi, I will be spending three days in Vermont this fall. Would like to know what you think would be the best town to stay in. Since I only have three days I want to make sure I stay where I can see the most in that short period of time. Also any suggestions on B&B's in that area would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest Waitsfield or Warren, which are right next to one another. About 50 minutes southeast of Burlington.

it depends on what your interests are. i assume you would be coming for the foliage--therefore, these towns are quintessential classics... small, quaint, very new england. you could drive RT. 100 which is considered one of the best in the state for foliage viewing.
unfortunately, i can't help you with the B&B's.

If you do choose to stay in the Waitsfield area, take a look at the website for the Inn at Round Barn Farm. We've stayed there and liked it very much. Ran in to the actual Ben and Jerry who were having an event for their employees on the property during our stay!

I'd suggest Stowe, lots to see & do, tons of restaurants and great inns. Enjoy your visit.

I say Stowe is the place to go. We stayed at the Stowe Motel which has free Trek mountain bikes for anyone to use. It is on the Stowe bike and cross country skiing trails. The people who own it are especially helpful. That's our very favorite place after going to Vermont twice.

I. too, recommend the Waitfield/Warren area as it convenient to everything. The Pitcher Inn in Warren is the nicest Inn we have ever stayed in and a true destination in itself.

I highly recommend Woodstock VT. Picture perfect town. Lot of antiquing, hiking, horseback riding, shopping etc... Kedron Valley Inn is a wonderful place to stay. Most places book up (in all of Vermont) 6-12 months in advance for foliage season so you should make your reservations ASAP wherever you decide
