Wow emd, only $1,000 for oceanfront with pool???? Where did you find THAT? I might reconsider the house and go for that instead, it would be nice to have a pool.

And thanks for the cart tip, I think we'll definitely do it, it will be well worth the money.

Emd, Also, what route did you take and how long was the drive? Just trying to get an idea, I live in Fairfield County - Weston.

I live in Farifax County, Northern Virginia- it is 5 hrs for us without traffic (we leave at 6 a.m. and get there for lunch and wait to check in). 95 south, Williamsburg, Norfolk, and the new toll road into NC and to the bridge.

Using www.randmcnally.com it looks like the drive is under ten hours for you. When we drive, I print their directions both to and from. I also try to check for interstate construction in advance.

Ocean Atlantic Rentals is a good tip. I've rented gear from them, especially beach umbrella--important!--when we've flown.
