Best and Worst Beds
 

What is the best hotel bed you have ever stayed in and what is the worst hotel bed you have slept in. I am talking comfort wise to all of you who are going to tell me about vibrating, etc. beds.

best is at the Crowne Plaza Universal, Orlando. Worst were the hotel beds on the Cosmos Great Britain Tour. Almost as bad as the dinners.

The Best, the W Hotel in Seattle. The worst, the Aladdin in Las Vegas. My back is still stiff.

Best: Four Seasons Toronto<BR>Worst: Marriott Aruba (Hotel, not Timeshares)

Best: The Kahala Mardarian Orential in Hawaii The Westin dones have comfortable beds Worst: I don't know

Worst - Econolodge in Tucson. Couldn't stay in the bed as there was not enough room for me and the bed bugs.

best: Four Seasons Big Island<BR>worst: the majority of beds in Europe, esp. London, the ones where you lay on the edge and immediately sink in the middle with the spings poking in your back

The worse bed I ever stayed in was in Chiang Mai in a hotel I found in my Lonely Planet guide. It said the place was cheap and it was. It was $2 a night. This was back in the 1980s. I noticed a few bloodstains on the sheets, but I figured it was just because people had swatted mosquitos or something. But then my foot came upon a used syringe. I'm not making this up, I swear. Anyway, I checked out immediately, but I must say the hotel manager was quite polite and even refunded my $2.

Westin chain has those wonderful &quot;heavenly beds&quot;. On their website it even has info on ordering your own.<BR><BR>You can't get any better then those. <BR><BR>The name is suitable, very heavenly!

I like the mattresses used by Starwood in the Heavenly Bed. I DON'T like the bedding at some of the hotels. I manage to wrap myself in the covers and completely make a mess of the bed by morning! This seems to be a hotel-to-hotel issue as all Westins, for instance, don't use the same bedding.

The Bellagio Suite at the Bellagio had the most wonderful bed. Not sure if all the rooms do, but this one was just great! Shortly after we got home, we had to get a new bed :~)<BR>Duane

The best bed that I slept in was at the Hotel Le Germain in Montreal.

Best bed so far at Marmelade, (here you can see the room, it's the top picture on the right http://www.total.net/~marmelad/Rooms.html). King size bed with a won-der-ful mattress and a down comforter. We stayed there the first week of December a couple of years back. Good breakfasts too.<BR>

Marmelade is in Montr&eacute;al, by the way.

This is a tough question because people are so different as to what is comfortable to them. I have a lot of back problems so any hotel bed is usually uncomfortable just because it isn't the bed I'm used to sleeping in. However, I stayed at Courtyard by Marriott at the Convention Center, Portland, OR last year. They had a foam type of mattress on the bed -- the type that forms around your body shape, then spring back to normal afterwards. My fiance and I both thought the mattress was very comfortable. It was a very reasonable room in a convenient location for about $80/nt. We were very happy with it. We're now looking into getting a mattress like it for our home. <BR><BR>As for worst....well, those would be too numerous to mention. With my back problems, it is very rare for me to like a hotel bed!

Wow, that is eerie, two people have the same answer as I do, as if we all slept in the same bed ~Lol~<BR>In the US, the Bellagio<BR>In Canada, the Le Germain in Montreal<BR>In Paris, the Big bed (not twins pushed together) at the D'Angleterre<BR>In London, the King sized Art Deco bed at the Washington Hotel in Mayfair.<BR>The worst-a dinky hotel on the North Shore of Long Island NY. The bed was too painful to lie on and smelled like mildew.

The Westin (Starwood Hotels) &quot;Heavenly&quot; Bed is, by far, the mnosto comfortable bed offered in any hotel (especially a chain hotel). Very consistent.<BR>But, if you ever happen to be in Naples, Italy, the bed at the beautiful Grand Hotel Vesuvius was equally &quot;heavenly.&quot;

Best bed:<BR>Lipa Noi (honeymoon) cottage, Laem Set Inn, Koh Samui, Thailand<BR><BR>Worst bed:<BR>At a youth hostel on Corfu Island, Greece 22 years ago. Another $2/night special--filthy, though no syringes. Fortunately, I did not have to come in contact with the bed since I had my sleeping bag with me.

I like the Heavenly Bed too - but I also love the pillow menu at the Benjamin.

Another vote for the Westin. The beds truly are &quot;Heavenly&quot;.

Best-- Savoy Hotel in London<BR>Worst -- Rico Motor Lodge somewhere between Atlanta and the Florida Panhandle. We had to stay there because we were traveling on a football weekend without reservations. I was afraid to sleep between the sheets. I wanted to minimize contact with anything that might be in that bed

Best- 1912 Dominion, a Boutique hotel in Quebec City<BR><BR>worst- YWCA, London, 30 years ago- only place I've encountered bedbugs=even now, at the mention of London, I start feeling little bites-

Can anyone offer a comparison opinion on W Hotel beds and Westin Heavenly beds? <BR><BR>They're both Starwood Hotels and both offer their mattress/boxspring sets for sale. The queen set at W is offered at $700 plus s/h and the queen set at Westin is offered at $1100 plus s/h. This surprised me, thought for sure the W bed would be more costly.<BR><BR>We're thinking of checking in to each of these hotels for a night or two to check out the beds...Would love any comparison opinions. Many thanks...
