My boyfriend and I went to Bar Harbor last September and stayed at the Mira Monte Inn in their West End Room. We absolutely loved it. The room has it's own private balcony and separate entrance, a gas fireplace and a whirlpool tub. It was $230 per night. The private balcony was wonderful, every night we would listen to music sip wine and dance. I will be honest and say when we first pulled up to the hotel, I thought it looked somewhat dumpy (could use a coat of fresh paint, which may have been done on the off season) However, we were not disappointed with our room or the service at the Inn and look forward to our next visit. Another positive is that, it is in a good location because you can walk into the town from the Inn and it is a short (5 min) drive to the park entrance. Here is a link to the Inn ( http://www.miramonteinn.com) The Inn at the Iny Manor is right in the heart of town and looked very nice as well as the Bar Harbor Inn (I think that is the name - has the Reading Room Restaurant in it). My Aunt & Uncle who are big fans of Bar Harbor and went every year for about 10 years always stay in the Edgewater Cottages, which are located a short drive from town but right on the water and I believe they are relatively cheap ($100 or so a night).

I would definitely recommend the restaurant Georges (7 stephen lane) right off main street. Wonderful food and nice ambiance. My boyfriend and I still talk about the appetizer of mussels in a spicy dijon sauce, which were to die for.

If you are into hiking, you should hike the Precipice. It is a little scary when you are climbing the ladders built into the rocks, but worth the view. Also, take in a sunset at Cadiallac Mt., one of the best sunsets I have witnessed.

Enjoy! Bar Harbor is wonderful, a very relaxing trip!!!
